Robert, we are not totally convinced that it will be the viewers votes that make that final decision.
Neither David Ian or Andrew Lloyd Webber would risk that kind of money.
Never mind it's made interesting viewing, and the good news is ....
Strictly Come Dancing is coming back. :)

Hi Robert---I am not at all sure if the role of Maria has been cast or not. As I rarely read a paper, I have not seen anything to suggest otherwise--just one of my friends made a comment that it was all sorted ages ago. I really do not know.

But if they have already cast Maria, then how can they carry on getting money from the viewers under false pretences--and hope to get away with it??

Thats right Marian, as we mentioned a while back, it would be a big swizz by the BBC. :!: Maybe the new Maria will be allowed to perform the part ONCE or maybe TWICE a week, while she gets used to her new surroundings in theatre productions, as everything will be completely new to her. It will take her a while to adjust to things, as well as both mentally and physically :?:

Hi Everyone

I heard the rumour at work again that the winner of 'Maria' would only be a temporary understudy, so I think you're right Robert, the show has already been cast.

Now, has anyone got any ideas how..

i) I break this news to my wife

& ii) I can find the money to pay my phone bill this month after Amanda's endless Saturday night 'Connie' calls?

Hi everyone, if this is the case and the chosen Maria will only perform as a tempory understudy, it's really being dishonest to the viewing and paying public , but this is more than likely what will happen, after all it was going to be Scarlett Johansson to play the part but she was making ridiculous diva-like demands, not just for money, but wanting two minders as well.
Don't know what to suggest here Gray, just tell Amanda it's all an ugly rumour, an expensive one but please let Connie win. 8)

:)
Thanks Lena & Harry,
I will try to break the news gently to her.

Wish I'd had a camera when watching last weeks show. she was like a woman possessed, crying, cheering, booing, clapping, a bit like me at a Leeds footy game ;)

Hi Lena and Harry--you will be able to catch up on the website, I'm sure. Unfotunately I have not yet spotted that it is being repeated anywhere on any other channel-not even Sky. Why, I wonder when some of the drivel that is on is repeated over and over !!

Well, there we go--it is all over. I am really sorry it is finished.

Well done to everyone who predicted Connie right from the beginning--I guess about half way through, I began to realise that Connie would probably win through.

But quite honestly, on this last show, I thought Helena's voice was much better, and I think she sang better than Connie---could be to do with the songs she sang, maybe.

I just wonder how many times Connie will get to play the part of Maria.!!

Hi all. I watched a little bit of the programme last week, for the very first time. When Connie sang I was VERY impressed with what I heard. So I watched tonights final, my impressions of the show were as follows-

1. Andrew Lloyd Webber is looking quite old nowadays, with those bags under his eyes.

2. He obviously only wanted Connie to win the contest. What would have been his reaction if Connie had failed to win?

3. Connie is a Maureen Lipman lookalike, in fact she could be her daughter, the resemblence is that strong.

4. Connie is a NATURAL performer, entertainer and a certain STAR both now and in the future. She has definite STAR quality.

Maria solved!

Post by Gray » Sun Sep 17, 2006 9:00 am

:P Deep Joy! So pleased that Connie won last night, she deserved to! I think all the 3 finalists will have a career in music though I'm sure Helena will get a part sooner or later. Connie was the best performer throughout the show and had that star quality whenever I watched her. I expect all the casting agents who turned her down before are kicking themsleves now! It would be great to see her on the West End, I hope we can get tickets (apparently they are very exoensive). But I'm sure a DVD will be released. Two million votes last night was an awful lot of people, I hope the BBC do somehting in the same vein sgain as I will really miss the ahow and a follow-up programme would be nice to see how Connie gets on as Maria. I'm sure she will become a big name in entertainment.
Nice to chat to you all shame it has to end  Thanks AmandaX
