In my opinion Matt Monro still reigns as the King of voices... But I will say this is not a new discovery , but I do believe Gordon Macrae had similar qualities. It seemed his voice expressed the same compassion the same sentiment, and expression .. and he did have a beautiful voice... and also left us far too young. I hope you are all well and just dropping by to say Hi and wondered if anyone else felt as I do about Gordon.......

Hi Lori---good to see you back--yes Gordon Macrae has been mentioned several times on here--he is a great singer--but my best memories are of him in "Carousel" and "Oklahoma".

Gordon MacRae was a reformed alcoholic, who ended up helping others in the situation he was in.............good for him
...........he had a very good voice too............a voice made for show tunes

always so good to hear your replies.... No Robert, I didn't know of Gordon"s drinking problems... It seems so many have that problem.... Another thought occured to me... Most of the great voices . .. including Matt, Sinartra, Perry Como. Macrae, w ith the exception of Jack Jones... were all short men I don't say this has any meaning... But just a coincidence I guess.

I'm tempted to say Jack Jones was head and shoulders above the rest! (literally) but I know i'll get shouted down here!

I would not think so Marian--JJ has many admirers on here.
