Riots, looting & burning in London

Post by Terence Lee » Tue Aug 09, 2011 5:45 am

I can't believe my eyes what I am seeing on TV and the papers. I hope all my friends in this forum are safe. Be extra careful and let us know if you are safe.

Such dreadful news and scenes Terence. Unbelievable all the destruction and danger to life these morons are bringing to their own communities.

Such lawlessness. Some victims were stripped naked and robbed of everything! Can't believe this is happening in London.

THE STREETS OF LONDON
(with apologies to Ralph McTell)

You won't have seen the old man
on his burnt-out High Street
kicking up paper with his well-worn shoes;
he looks in stunned disbelief
at the mayhem-spreading grief
carried by round-the-clock television news.

So how can you tell me you're discontent,
that for you the sun don't shine?
I daren't lead you by the hand
through certain lawless streets of London,
to show you something that makes you change you mind.

:(

I think we are all horrified by what is going on around us , just awful scenes-I was up till 3.30 last night following it on Sky news. At the moment the areas being targeted are shopping areas , rather than residential areas. The Prime Minister is due to give a talk soon, but I just do not know what is going to be done. I think the only answer is many more Police, because at the moment, they are just powerless against these mobs, of mostly young teenage boys.

Thanks for thinking of us Terence.

I can see them calling in the troops if this continues, they should strictly enforce the zero tolerance rule.

It's shocking to see buses, buildings and cars on fire but the cowards never show their faces do they? They are well covered up!

My sister works in London-near Putney Bridge--her boss had a tip off, that Currys and PC World at Wandsworth, just behind their grounds, would be targeted tonight. So he let everyone leave early.
Whether this will be the case, or is a red herring diverting police away from another area, remains to be seen.

These hooligans must be stopped or there will be copycat riots in other places across the UK.

There seems to be a reluctance to use more effective measures like rubber bullets and water cannons. Those dopes in authority, so frightened of who they may upset, live in cuckoo land and need to wake up and start thinking a bit more of the hard working citizens in this country.

Terence -there has been already--Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham.

My sister was telling me of a friend at work, who lives in Battersea--right near Clapham Junction where it was really bad--and she lives above a shop--they were terrfied that they might get attacked, lose their home. It is not right that peaceful law abiding people should have to suffer like this.

I agree 100% with Harry and Lena--drastic , tough measures are needed. I have not watched the news yet--it is painful viewing right now.

Thanks to you lovely people overseas for your concern.

I also agree with Lena and Harry, its time for the authorities to wake up and get something done about it.

It's sad to think places you have been to are being attacked, Croydon, Bristol & Nottingham.

Everyone is saying the same thing even on Dusty's website the authorites should stop pussy footing around and stick to their zero tolerance policy - it's anarchists that are doing this and it has nothing to do with the guy being shot in London.

A young friend of mine said they should send them to Afghanistan, if they do they better issue them with brown trousers said I !!!

I heard a store in Croydon survived the war and has now been ruined by fire, also the picture of a woman jumping from a building on fire, I hope they caught her safely?

Keep safe Lena & Harry.
