Sounds Of The 60's

Post by karl » Tue Jan 03, 2012 10:59 am

Did anyone listen in last Saturday? What a cracker of a show every record was great and Brian also played The Springfields AND Dusty.

At the end of every show he always says "That's Your Lot For This Week,See You Next Week" but on Saturday he said "That's Your Lot For Thisi Year, See You Next Year"

Brian is getting on in years but I hope he can do this show for a long time to come, it's not the same without him.

Hi Karl

I'm a big fan of Sounds of The Sixties and listen to it every week: it has such a wide variety of music on it. Brian is 83 now, I believe, but still going strong (although he was recently off ill and replaced on the show by, of all people, Tim Rice, who was not a very inspiring presenter).

I think Brian went off sick the day I left for Australia and I was concerned as the last time he was off a long time, however he bounced back quickly this time. When he was ill before the best stand in was Sandie Shaw as her enthusiasm just bubbled over.

This programme isn't one of my favourites on Radio 2. I like Brian's voice and the trivia the best. I'm pleased that he plays rare tracks but usually they aren't any good. And then the hit songs I've heard too many times. I'm pleased he played Let's Hang On by the Four Seasons, because all you hear in the US are Sherry and the dreadful December 1963.

Paul trust you to poo-hoo one of the best and most loved shows on radio 2, the rare tracks are not very good in your opinion but many, many people love this show. I think I will ask Brian to play December 63 and dedicate it to you!!!!

Sandie Shaw was on Celebrity Mastermind last night,
Her specialist subject was Buddhism, followed by general knowledge.
She scored the lowest points on both :)

Sandie's name was not listed in Radio Times - wish I'd seen her. I did see last week's show with Stacy Solomon and for once I actually understood what she was saying - however on the general knowledge she got the easiest of questions wrong!

Some celebrities are so dense they make me feel SO intelligent!!! :D
