I am surprised nobody has posted on this.

I watched the news yesterday of the six soldiers who were killed and also the two hostages in Nigeria, very sad news indeed.

May they all rest in peace.

Well allow me to be the second Karl.
I'm sure all of us on this forum have been once again saddenned to hear of the deaths of these Six brave soldiers, which obviously and naturally we find extra shocking because of the number killed in one attack, but it doesn't make it any less shocking for all the other brave soldiers who have been killed in this futile war which the taliban are never going to surrender to.
We have the most caring and sympathetic people on this forum but whoever and whatever the ciircumstances we can't post on every tragedy and death that we read about and whatsmore it isn't compulsary.

Yes I realise that but with so many killed at once I thought someone would have had something to say. Also why can't we post on every military tragedy, it shows that we DO care! Most of us are on the site regularly so a few words of compassion does not go amiss.

These guys are the real heroes and the reason we can sleep in our beds at night, they have my utmost admiration.

Yes, it was a terrible tragedy, every death is a tragedy. All heroes, every one of them. May they all rest in peace.

What makes it worse--if anything could--is that all these guys bar 1--were only 19 or 20. Why in the world are they being sent out there?

Why are any of them out there--none of it makes sense to me .

Mariana I so agree with you at that age they are still kids, probably not old enough to drink or vote but old enough to die for their country.

..............Karl, will stop putting down everyone on the forum, when things do not suite yourself. We don't always all go on the forum daily, but when we do us the forum I'm sure we will all acknowledge these tragedies. Why do you always have to put your sixpenth worth in against all the friendly folk on the MM forum.............why won't you learn from your previous mistakes.....................time for another custard pie, but in your face this time

If you feel put down Robert then there's nothing I can do about it, I just feel these heroes deserve a special mention and if you can't accept that then ....

Also this is NOT what this thread was intended for it was to honour our brave soldiers so if you want to have a moan open a new thread!

Karl on a day to day basis I can see these things first hand. These tragedies always get to me especially the young families that are left behind and the children that are too young to know why Mum or Dad will not be home. These people in the Armed Forces are the real heroes.

A shocking waste of lives.

Our 20 year old Grandson has been in the Paras for 4 years and all of his unit have been desperate for a tour of duty.

Knowing that these 6 have been killed after only a few weeks,and having trained with one of them
has brought the tragedy closer to them all.

Get out now Ben,let us have you home.

Sandra my two cousins each have a daughter and a son in the forces, one in the Air Force and one in the Navy, we really need people like them defending us.
