Celebrity Encounters

Post by Rob H » Fri Mar 23, 2012 1:35 am

This topic is on funny celebrity encounters.

I will start! This one is before they were famous:

My wife was looking over some Degree paperwork this week, when she came across her graduation programme from her Masters Degree from Glasgow University 21 years ago. She didn't know she had actually graduated alongside Hollywood actor Gerard Butler, who at the time was getting a Law degree bestowed on him before coming a lawyer.

I suppose mine was meeting Helen Shapiro in the loo at The Book Launch. She was washing her hands and I automatically stuck out my hand, waffling some thing like I'm really to please meet you, but she retorted, I don't think you want to shake hands at the moment! :D

But was she ok about it Marian? I've met Helen and even spoken to her in her dressing room and she was really nice.

Both Helen and John (her husband) are wonderful people. I don't know Helen very well, but chat to John quite often as we hit it off at the Book launch.

I was working in The Royal Albert Hall for a film magazine in the early eighties, when I was approached by the wonderful actor Richard Griffiths (Harry Potter Fame), outside the green room! He was looking for the American actress Elaine Stritch, I sent him off in the wrong direction by mistake. She had previously left with her co-host, Sir Donald Sinden.
