STRANGE BUT TRUE.

Post by mariana44 » Tue Jan 08, 2013 10:23 pm

I have a lovely neighbour living opposite , who has bee helping me with taking the dogs out while my kneee is still painful.

I know she has been thinking of buying a Tablet, so I invited her in to see mine , and all the things it can do.

So I came to Youtube--probably my favourite part of the Tablet, opened it up, and asked "Who is your favourite Singer"---No Reply!

So I said--any singer then--"Oh " she said--"that has all passed me by"-

She could not give me the name of a single singer.

I was speechless !!!

Marian, I know what you mean. It's happened quite often that I have held a conversation with someone and they confess to never having heard of the most popular singers of the day or even the most well remembered singers of the past or their songs. :? :?
Where or what have they been doing all their lives. I can't get through a day without listening to some music of some kind. :D

Same here L&H, if I don't listen to a cd or the radio every day then there is something wrong with me.

However I was talking to a friends sister (she's almost 70) and I mentioned Patti Page passign away, she didn't knwo who she was but when I mentioned hHow Much Is That Doggie In The Window she knew it.

I know many of the older stars as the radio was often on in our house when I was growing up and then came the telly!!! Also my aunt & uncle always bought bought records and I used to love going to their house as they usually had another new record. That's how I got to know about Dickie Valentine, , Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davia, Woody Herman, David Whitfield, Harry Belafonte & Shirley Bassey, they had Shirley on a 78 singing The Wayward Wind.

I am the same with everyone, I have to have some music no matter what during the day. Our neighbours ask my parents if there is no music to be heard coming from our house if I'm sick as it isn't normal that there isn't any music to be heard.
