MORE BAD NEWS

Another long time friend of mine from Barnsley has just been diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer and is having seven weeks of radio therapy five days a week.

He is trying to remain positive and I am trying to keep upbeat for his sake but it's not easy, a few years ago his girl friend died from a brain tumour and more recently his dad (also cancer) .

One often wonders how we would react under such circumstances but that is something I hope I never experience.

Hang in there Karl, and be the best friend to your friend that you can be. Hopefully they caught the cancer in time. Thoughts and prayers going out to your friend.

There is certainly more that they can do these days for all types of cancer, and many more people now recover. George had prostate cancer many years ago, and had radio therapy 5 days a week for 6 weeks--the hospital was 15 miles away, and he drove in himself every day, and in fact, had no unpleasant side effects at all. And shortly after his check up we had a letter from the surgeon to say that the cancer had completely gone !! And my friend Audreys son has also been though radiotherapy just in the last year, and is fine now. Radiotherapy is definately less aggressive than chemotherapy , if that is what the doctors advise.

So there is definately hope for your friend , Karl.

I know radiotherapy is not as drastic as chemo but we still don't like to hear of our friends going through that, especially so soon after losing Jim.

That's great to know that George felt well enough to drive Marian, I will pass that on.

It's always sad to read about anyone who is suffering so we hope your friend responds to the radiotherapy.

As Marian says they can do so much more now so let's keep our thoughts on the positive side for him.

That's exactly what we are all doing, in circumstances like that nobody wants to hear negative comments.

Wishing your friend every good wish Karl.
As every one has said keep positive, as many are cured from prostate cancer these days, and it sounds as if it was discovered early, so he has every chance of a complete recovery.
