Rude dentist

Post by maxine » Sat Dec 14, 2013 4:03 pm

Hope you don't mind but I thought whilst I was on here id mention that I went to a Saturday dentist today...a walk away from our house which is so handy for obvious reasons ..I had been before for antibiotics in September ( my tooth calmed and Maidstone dentist said leave it unless it flails again soon and went to my original dentist in Maidstone as I have been there most of my life...it's along story but ...the dentist was so rude to me before i sat down and with all the upset with my uncle i was feeling delicate anyway. He told me off for not going back for the extraction he had recommended ...really laid into me...I was gobsmacked and silly me ...took it and sat down in the chair as I wanted to check that nothing was getting worse as I had pain in same place ...but a little help with antibiotic i had asked my original dentist for incase of flair up again...( A thirty mile drive i cant do without hubby and he has to work ... ) ...i gave them plenty of notice of cancellation and the receptionist has totally confused me with the availability of appointments so much so I had to ring there partner dentist down the rod to see if they could help me...I was so flustered i forgot to mention this...

He was quite happy to tell me that he won't be able to extract my tooth now until after Christmas. ...as if i will go to him now anyway....I've never had this treatment anywhere to do with teeth or health...I was polite as I walked out ...offered to pay but there was no charge ...anybody had the same problem...as I walked Home i was welling up...I thought ...and a merry Christmas to you too...am I being touchy because of my uncle being ill or was this unjustified! Thank you in advance
Softly, I will leave you softly
For my heart would break if you should wake and see me go.....

Probably a bit of both Maxine as you're on edge right now. However it's a pity you dibn't give him a piece of your mind.

MY dentist is great, he reminds me of Bill Clinton and is always very nice to talk to.

If you have been going to this dentist awhile and he's been pleasant it would throw you off guard - however maybe he's also having problems in his life - however he should still act professionally to his patients.

Hi,Maxine.
Might I suggest you take refuge in the sage words
of the (incarcerated) philosopher,Norman Stanley Fletcher:
"...Don't let the b******s grind you down.".

Maxine, there is never any excuse for rudeness, especially from a Professional. I am sure if you had not been feeling a bit down with everything going on, you could have found a good answer for him,

I am going to my dentist next thursday, and I live quite near Maidstone--but happy to report that my dentist is in tonbridge.

Mariana that is so true ...I was totally thrown off guard ...wow which part of Maidstone do you live near ...i go to a lovley dentist normally called doc Shivaji...the boys have grown up with him ..I've been going since 11 but live 30 miles away ...i don't want to cut ties and my experience todAy showed me why :? ...don't worry if you don't want to say which part of Maidstone or near it ...not always a good idea on the net. ...

I've been to him twice now Karl....and I won't be going back ....nothing worse than an aggressive dentist...many years ago when I was seven ..I did make a bit of a fuss in the dentist but is had a bad experience with the dreaded gas ...so was upset just sitting there ..dentist said ...how old are you maxine ...i answered 7 ...he replied ...you're acting like a 3 year old ...shut up! ....this day and age that would be a cause for concern for sure ...I felt like that 7 year old again ..being told off...I won't let it go ...I will gather my strength and complain....how to win customers and influence people.....not

That is Ok Maxine--everyone on this forum knows I live in Paddock Wood, about 13 miles from Maidstone, but nearer to Tonbridge and ~Tunbridge Wells.

When I worked in London, I had a good dentist there, and of course it was much easier--and after I stopped working I stayed there, but in the end, after seeing a different dentist evey time, because my dentist was always ill, I thought i might as well change to a local dentist. The thing that decided me was that I got an abscess under my eye tooth--just so painful, and my face looked awful, and I had to struggle on the train to London, get to the dentists, which was just around the corner, but took me ages, i was feeling so bad, I was given a prescription for double antibiotics , so i managed to find a chemist nearby, and took 2 tablets straightaway. the last thing she said to me was that if it got worse to go to the nearest emergency dentist-so I got home and had a sleep, woke up and i was worse-so we had to make our way to the emergency dentist in tunbridge Wells, with me navigating as George did not have a clue where It was--when I got there i was so bad they saw to me straight away, and they actually drilled into the tooth itself, let everything out, cleaned it, filled it, and I felt better almost immediately, and have had no problems since. But that journey to and from London on my own was a total nightmare, and was the last straw. i sighned on with a local dentist and have been there ever since.

That sounds awful Mariana ...yes local is more advisable for sure....especially after that experience for you ...our dentist has never ripped us off....whereas hubby's old dentist used to drill holes and ask him if he has ever used Amway a better ware type product......a good dentist is worth it's wait in gold for sure ...I know paddock wood :D ......stopped there'd on train many a time x

Maxine should you ever be back at the rude dentists you could do what the woman in a very old joke did.

The dentist was hurting her so she started to squeeze a certain part of the dentists anatomy.

You're Hurrting Me - the dentist exclaimed and the woman replied, I'll stop when you stop!

Forgot to say, what a terrible thing for a dentist to say to a 7 year old, at that age I was also terrified of the dentist but my mum always went with me as any mjum woudl at that age. I hope your mum gave that particular dentist a piece of her mind.

Back in the 70's I verbally laid into a doctor. I could not get an appointment for my own doctor so saw this arrogant sod, I was suffering from Meniere's then and he obviously never looked at my file and accused me of being an alcoholic. Boy was he a sorry man, once I let him have it I refused to let him treat me and demanded to see my own doctor - and I did!!!!!

I don't care who they are, they should treat people in a dignified manner.
