Good result for Spain tonight, 4-1 against Russia.
At least we have some league players in these games, and also some English referees I believe.

I thought the torrential rain tonight was going to mean the match being postponed, but the second half was.............dare I say...................enjoyable :)

Yes Gray we would have liked Switzerland to have won for our Swiss friends who live in Berne and will be watching the games.
It would have been stopped here with a pitch in that condition, but they are used to sliding about out there.

We saw the great Eusebio enjoying the Portugal game, whose team were so much better than the Czechs in the second half.

Yes, I was chuffed to see Eusebio having so much fun at the Portugal game :)
They look a decent side - along with Holland and Spain.
And let's not forget Germany who will be there or there abouts. :)

Hi Gray
I don't feel so badly now about England's absence;
although it is defeatist to say so, I don't think we
could live with the likes of Holland and Spain. We would
have been the spectre at the feast. Sadly.

Hi Lena & Harry

Germany got beat just as I was saying they wouldn't be too far away!
No wonder I don't win the lottery! :)

Yes, Keith, had England got there we would of ony been disapointed at the Quarter Final Stage...again!!!

Hi Gray
I have a feeling that our players are privately
pleased to be relieved of the pressure of another
tournament, having just completed a gruelling
premiership season. No other nation imposes
the burdensome number of matches our players
have to contend with.

England certainly wouldn't have lived with Holland Keith the way they played tonight, and wouldn't even have lived with the way France played tonight and they lost 4-1.

Yes it's heartbreaking Keith. The burden of our lads having to play all those games, and at the miserly wages of £140 Grand a week .

But do not forget--all the money in the world does not guarantee a rain-free day for your wedding --no matter where you go ,or how famous a footballer you are

Yes, never mind I expect the groom remembered his Walter Raleigh act. The whole planned shebang finished with a fireworks display, something similar to Colleen's 18th Birthday celebration in a Liverpool hotel that ended up pretty much the same, but with the strong arm of the law present.
We booked into that very hotel for Al Martino's concert just Three days after and had to mend the bed and decorate the room.
8) :)
