General Election

Two or Three weeks ago I answered a knock on the door to see a smiling man and a lady standing there who asked me if June the 8th had any kind of significance or importance to me. To which I replied well now you've mentioned it, yes it does, it was to the very day last year that Marks and Spencers opened a food store very conveniently across the road to where we live.
The leaflets in the womans hand were a giveaway and since that day, leaflets from all candidates even personal ones from Theresa May

have been coming through the letter-box like confetti.
I've listened to so many political debates these past few weeks and now that the canvassing for our votes is almost over and my decision on the subject has been made. No callers or election Junk Mail is now pinned firmly on our street door.

Yes, we have had leaflets left right and centre coming through the door too. I still can't believe we are having another, as it is only 2 years since the last one. And will it make any difference?

And my question is , is any one of them worth voting for?
L&H loved your reply to the question, you never let me down. LOL

I doubt Labour will win the election, but Jeremy Corbyn has come up with one big statement that will affect the poorest in society ..........scrapping the obnoxious Bedroom Tax ..........it doesn't affect me but I know it affects thousands of society's poorest families............plus a vote for the Conservatives always help's the rich whereas a vote for Labour nearly always helps the less well off in society ..............for that reason I can never vote for the Tory's

Couldn't agree with you more Robert where the tories are concerned. I thought they had already sunk as low as they could get and pensioners, many of them from tough poverty backgrounds who struggled all their working lives to save to buy a home could lose the heating and fuel allowance, which I regard as disgusting, Regardless of their situation now, they didn't get it given to them.
The tory's have been dying to remove this allowance and the freedom pass and free over 75s tv licence for some time now, so nothing surprises me from them.
Perhaps Theresa May should take a look at the obscene salaries awarded to the dozing brigade of politicians , to directors of companies and businesses. That would be a good start.
Even though Jeremy Corbyn's past and present beliefs do him no favours and with dim Diana Abbott alongside him ( what a win double )

for me, is that walk to the polls worth it..

It doesn't even feel like a General Election is happening at the moment, wit it being called at such short notice and with everything else that has been happening it has just been at the back of my mind. I am not even sure if I will rushing around the corner to the local church to vote, I am sure a lot of people will be feeling the same.

Do vote John it's important.
Oh! my entry phone buzzed on Sunday and a guy asked if he could deliver election leaflets. For which party I asked, SNP he said - my reply No Thanks and put the phone down .
Even the continuity guy at the recording of Len Goodman's show on Monday said Please Don't Leave Us and several people from England have said the same to me.

Try not to laugh at this.
Channel 4 announces... Diane Abbott to replace Rachel Riley on Countdown.....

Her secretary says she needs to have a back up plan
.. in case Jeremy Corbyn loses the general election
She has an incdedible head for figures . Admitted they had to replace the pen Eleven times and had to remind her what it means to rotate the plus sign by 45 degrees. She thinks that 6 was a consonant but they put that down to nerves.
There has been some concern about her previous support for rival gameshow "Call My Bluff" after photos from the 1980s emerged of her enjoying Pie and Mash with Sandi Toksvig.

I still don't know if the post if genuine or a joke L&H ..................I was checking to see if today was April 1st .............I presume it was a hoax because if it were true then pigs might be seen flying through the skies one day .......

John please try to vote every time there is an election ...........remember what the Suffragettes went through just to get women the vote .............one threw herself under the Kings horse during the Derby at the time in protest .........and her actions in doing so were her last actions in life

................the Suffragette story in interesting
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suffragette
Karl, I want the UK to stay as "one" also ...............the UK voted to leave the EU with a majority of about 10% and are quite rightly sticking with the result ..........it is the same majority as the Scottish referendum ended up nearly two years ago, but Nicola Sturgeon and before her Alex Salmon want to have another vote.........why cant they do as the UK government have done and "stick" to the original choice of the people

I will be voting, don't worry everyone.
It is just that it seems only 2 minutes since the last one. The polling station is only around the corner anyhow.

It seems a waste if you don't vote, but with the choices on offer this time (even worse than usual) it seems like a waste if you do vote.
