Lennie Bennett R.I.P

Post by Marian » Sat Apr 11, 2009 8:41 am

I was sorry to read this morning of the sad death of another of our well known entertainers, Lennie Bennett aged 70, following a fall at his home.
I have a feeling he might have appeared on the same bill as Matt at one time. I know he definitely did with Jack Jones.
R.I.P. Lennie.

Sad to hear of Lennie Bennetts passing.
He was partnered with Jerry Stevens at the beginning of his career, hosted game shows, and appeared in so many variety shows.

I have a poster from the Palace Theatre in Newark ,Nottinghamshire.
The show was called 'Pleasuretime 78' so I presume it was one of many dates.
The date was Friday February 24th and the supporting cast was indeed Lennie Bennett.
Also on the bill were Eric Delaney and his band and a group called The Wedgewoods?
Top of the bill was of course Matt.

Lennie&Gerry opened for Frank Sinatra at a Royal Albert Hall concert-
very sad news.
