I'm listening to a backlog of 'taped' Sounds of The 60's and on July 25th Brian Matthew said some lovely things about Matt after playing 'Softly...'

No surprise whatsoever that Brian Matthew would say nothing but nice things about Matt Gray. :)
We've just heard on Radio 2 of this coming 'Fridays programme mentioned by Desmond Carrington himself... with a few words from Matt too. :) :)

Were you all listening in ?? :) Enjoyable programme with recordings of our Matt explainng how his career got started plus some familiar songs on Desmond Carrington's show. Programmes like these that contribute in keeping Matt's voice alive, are welcome and appreciated.

Really enjoyed listening in and wished it could have been longer. Still there were quite a few songs considering it was less than half an hour. Nice hearing Matt talking again too. :D :D
Anne Shelton next week. :D :D
Marian.

We thought it was a really really nice programme. It is always poignant listening to Matt talking .We hadn't ever heard that interview before,so apart from the familiar stuff about how he started out it was good to hear things we hadn't heard before e.g.about how he was proud of being praised by his peers and calling himself a travelling salesman selling songs.
A good cross section of songs too,in fact they were all part of our 'favourites'.
Well done to Desmond Carrington and to Michele who helped put it together.
Did you catch him singing 'Yesterday'BBC 4 too. :D :D

I think two or three different interviews were used during the show last night  we have heard most of what Matt had to say, on Matts DVD releases :) ...........but the show just flew by............a pity more or different songs were not used (no mention, or hardly any mention of Born Free, From Russia With Love, On Day's Like These or Walk Away).

We thought the songs used , apart from the chart entry "PORTRAIT" that Matt spoke of were a change from the usual standards.
You're Gonna Hear From Me, It's A Breeze, You Keep Me Swinging, If I Never Sing Another Song, As Long As I'm Singing. and even a little sample of Camay,

Yes, the songs were "different" to the ones I expected Desmond Carrington to play, but the programme went out to a vast audience, and I bet most were expecting a few Matt standards :) ........and for DC to give no mention at all to the songs Born Free, From Russia With Love and On Day's Like These, is a mistake on a Matt d.o.c.u.m.e.n.t.a.r.y. style show. Many non Matt fans listening may have never associated Matt with these tunes.............and they still won't (what a great pity) ...................I just wish the programme was a full 60 minutes long.

Well Robert, if any who were listening in and were non Matt fans, Desmond could have played "Any Old Iron" and they wouldn't have known would they
