Congratulations, Lena and Harry, on that major landmark of 2500! It's always great to read your postings on music, English culture and food, and especially Matt Monro.

Many thanks Paul Mike and Jon for your nice comments, but it's thanks again to all you lovely people who post here with an un-ending variety of fun subjects for us to respond to that make this scoring possible.
Mike, those Movietone newsreels are brilliant aren't they.
One lingering memory that we have is the World Service News on the BBC radio that always began with the tune "Lillibulero, and a news reader John Snagge.
And the one voice that seemed to dominate the airwaves and commentate on everything from sport, game shows, fashion, you name it was Bob Danvers Walker.
He told many a great story, like the time the Gestapo marched into his office that was in a sleepy little village in Normandy, and wanting to know where he was. They had his identification, and recordings of him taking the mick out of, and taking a swipe at the Nazi war machine. Bob and his wife luckily and swiftly had legged it to the station and caught the last train out.

Hi Marian, you'll know that our thanks for your comments are sincere too and much appreciated, and in spite of your week away it was great to see your postings appear several times.
Like Edgar too, and anyone else who posts while away from home, it shows dedication.

A bit late here L&H, as I wasn't online yesterday, but well done on reaching the magical 2,500 mark on the great MM website 8) always look forward to reading your words of wisdom. Your memories are still quite good for a couple of OAPS   John Snagge was also the regular commentator on the "Boat Race" for many years.

Hi Robert, we were getting a bit worried about you. Marian was too, knowing you had a cold. Anyway thanks Robert for your compliments on the 2,500 score, as for our memories, we can also remember another news reader Alvar Liddell. With this news reader we listeners somehow sensed bad news before he barely spoke  there was generally a pause and then he delivered it like a flash. Well it was during the blitz.
On the other hand Robert we can't always remember what we had for dinner yesterday.
