ST GEORGE'S DAY.

Post by Lena & Harry Smith » Mon Apr 23, 2007 8:38 am

How about a little patriotism with some flag waving or connecting songs to celebrate ST GEORGE'S DAY today. :D
Here's the first " Land Of Hope And Glory"

A great song "Jerusalem" Marian, has often been suggested for our National Anthem.
Here's another, "THERE'LL ALWAYS BE AN ENGLAND"

A VERY HAPPY ST GEORGE'S DAY EVERYONE!!
Can't think of another England song apart from "Three Lions"! so I'll go with at least a part of England that is dear to many of us, and was especially to our Matt - "MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE I'M A LONDONER"

Happy St. George's Day everyone.

The only song I can think of is "Hey there Georgie Girl" which I think Matt covered on one of his CD's.

How shall we all celebrate this wonderful day!
I think that dragons are rarer than hens teeth today aren't they?!
Instead of beating up dragons today let's celebrate the day with a toast to the great St. George - long may he remain our patron saint of England. :D

Happy St George's Day! I will suggest the following that always take me to England.

The Spirit of England -- Elgar's choral masterpiece

Country Gardens -- Grainger

I didn't know it was St George's Day, or I would have brought special English CDs with me. I particularly love a CD which is a tribute to the Queen Mother. Instead I brought show tunes, since I'm playing for a theatre fundraiser this evening. When I get home, I'll play Elgar's Enigma Variations and the Queen Mother tribute CD.

Where are you Paul, are you over here, or away from home somewhere else in the U.S. at the moment?? :?: :?: :?:

I think we are talking about the same song. It was written by Percy Grainger and I believe someone added lyrics later.

I'm in Washington. I usually don't have access to a computer on most weekends, so that's why I'm usually not on the forum on Saturday and Sunday. I missed a lot of activity this weekend!
