George Martin BBC Programme

Post by ROBERT M. » Mon Apr 25, 2011 1:34 am

This programme, nearly one and a half hours long, should be rather interesting on Monday night 9.00 pm on the BBC :) ....................if anyone watches it, please give us your thoughts :) ............my first thought at watching the preview of the programme over the past couple of days is why not show George together with Matt ? ........we did see George with The Bealtes, Cilla Black and Rolf Harris among others, but no Matt, trust the BBC  ...........let's hope Matt is at least mentioned on the programme.

I watched this programme at my daughter's last night, and thought it was disgraceful that Matt was not even mentioned. Portrait of My Love was played to open the programme and one photo of Matt was shown with George, but there was not so much as a mention of his name or any of his music.
As I said - disgraceful, as well as very disappointing. :( :( :(
It was almost as if he had been left out intentionally as there were several times he could have been included with the Peter Sellers connection and James Bond themes, but surely Matt should have been given a section in his own right anyway.

How we agree with you Marian.
We were quite excited when the programme opened with Matt singing Portrait, and then the photo with George himself.
Every time Matt could have been mentioned as in the stuff about Peter Sellars,James Bond and even the Beatles their was no word of his name.
For anyone who wasn't aware of the George Martin/Matt Monro connection they wouldn't have a clue as to why the programme started with Matt singing Portrait.
It should just have been called the Beatles meet George Martin.
VERY VERY disappointing :( :( :(

Yes, we also thought what a let down it was after starting the programme with Portrait. All the way through we were so sure that we would see and hear something of Matt, and particularly when they showed the album Songs For Swinging Sellars.
We agree, with all the opportunities it did seem as though his name was left out intentionally. :x :x

The blo.dy BBC are a disgrace sometimes   not only was Matt completely ignored (apart from Portrait and the one solitary photo) but Dame Shirley was ignored too...............I think they probably thought people of these times would not know who Matt was (as most of the programme revolved around people still alive, for interview purposes)......................just as annoying was at the start when listing artists that George worked with......they included the Luton Girl Choir.........who the blo.dy hell are they :!: :!: :!: :!:
