Ken Bruce played a tribute to Whitney today as I was driving, I'd never heard this song before but she sang all The Man That I Need and I really enjoyed it, she was more subdued on this song instead of singing full out.

That is one of her biggest hits. It's one of the many ballads that I cannot stand. I don't know about the UK, but it was overplayed on US radio. I didn't like it from the first time I heard it.

Thinking more about it, 99% of the problem with I Will Always Love You is with the producer David Foster. How he could go from the brilliance that was the Canadian group Skylark to producing overblown pop with key changes is one of life's great mysteries.

And I forgot that Whitney's duet with CeCe Winans, Count On Me, is another one of my favorites, as is her duet with her mother on I Know Him So Well. It was nice to listen to those this morning as well as It's Not Right But It's Okay and Your Love Is My Love. I wish I had a copy of Exhale (Shoop Shoop) to listen to; her singing was lovely and subdued on that song.

My favourite song by Whitney is a duet with Teddy Pendergrass called "Hold me"---it is a lovely song, and both singers sing so sweetly, and gently-I love it.

Yes, I think that was with Teddy Pendergrass. I had forgotten about that duet.

Trevor Nelson did a little tribute to Whitney Houston on his Soul programme Wednesday night on Radio 2. I got to her my three of my four favorites: It's Not Right But It's Okay, My Love Is Your Love, and the gorgeous Exhale (Shoop Shoop). No one is playing these songs in the US, but I think they're her best.

Hey Paul, have you heard "Moment of Truth"? I was the B-side to "I Wanna Dance With Somebody". That one was never on a lp and it's got a mid-tempo groove without all the vocal gymnastics. It's a killer track for me.

R.I.P. - Whitney Houston
I most remembered her for her version of "The National Anthem" (Star Spangled Banner) at the Super Bowl.
And her one good movie "The Bodyguard" with Kevin Costner (who made a moving talk at her funeral on Saturday)

Watched her funeral live via live stream till 4am. CeCe Winans and R Kelly gave the best performances of the night. R Kelly showed what I Looked To You should have sounded like if Whitney had not lost her top notes.
