I dont think Adele deserved a Oscar for Skyfall. The late great John Barry should of deserved a Oscar years ago for his contribution to the James Bond legacy, as well as a Knighthood. RIP JB. The whole thing was very predictable this year,but some wonderful films. Skyfall as the best JB film...I don't think so!! Poor script and lame stunts as well as a stupid baddy.

Dame Shirley Bassey may have received a very spontaneous standing ovation at the Oscars and wowed the stars present but I have heard better renditions of Goldfinger from her. I thought she sounded flat in a few places but the final note was beautiful. Not sure I like the gold gown. She looked slimmer in the black gown on the red carpet.

Barbra's The Way We Were was alright though I heard coarse bits. At least she improvised a bit this time around and made some effort to lose weight and dress up for the occasion.

Adele I don't like, never did and Jennifer Hudson oversang like she always does.

Talking of Bond's songs I always liked Nancy Sinatra singing You Only Live Twice.

Are you positive that was Shirley Bassey singing live?....If so she has retained her fabulous voice thru all these years!!

Yes. Shirley Bassey and Barbra Streisand sang live at the Oscars. The Dame may be able to sing a few songs at special functions but I don't think she has the stamina to do a concert tour anymore.

I think you are right in Shirley Bassey and Barbara Streisand's case Terence, and it's obvious but natural that neither have the power now, but these days we listen and watch at most performances because we are too often led to believe that singers are singing live when they are not,

Henry, you could tell that Dame Shirley was singing live as she did sound flat at times
