I just watched the closing ceremony as I recorded it last night.

I thought the closing speeches were great and especially Prince Imran when he said at the end "Pure Dead Brilliant" I was crying with laughter.

It was good to see everyone having such a great time but I think Lulu should have been given longer onstage.

Lulu has recorded a lot of good titles over the years Maxine - her version of Here Comes The Night is just one

Have you heard her singing The Prayer with Russell Watson, it's amazing, Lulu sounds so different on that track.

No haven't heard that yet Karl ..I love Russell Watson. ....just can't warm to Lu Lu ...no offence a fellow scot and everything.. but ...she has a great voice but too full of herself ....i supplies most singers are but she just grates on me ... :? ....can't wait to see Rhydian in October  ....now he was full of himself on X factor but calmed down with his image and I love his voice and how passionate he is when he sings ...... :D And Russell moves me even more since he recovered from two brain tumours .....

I woudn't say Lulu is full of herself but she has always been very confident, I wish Dusty had been that confident but then perhaps that's what made Dusty so special.

I don't like everything about Lulu but she has made some great records, like

Even If I Could Change
The Man Who Sold The World
Where The Poor Boys Dance
(Oh Me Oh My) I'm A Fool For You Baby
Me The Peaceful Heart to name just a few, not forgetting Shout which I still love.

Maxine her Duets album is really good, you'll find The Prayer on that jone plus a great track with Elton John.

Comments from a columnist in one of todays newspapers ....Glasgow Kiss-Off.
He writes....About Five minutes after I came out of hiding from the opening ceremony, Lulu opened up with her mid Atlantic death rattle "We-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-ell ... you know you make me wanna, and I was back behind the couch again, best place too.

Must admit that song does nothing for me. In fact I can't stand it.
Barring that she has made some decent recordings.

I'm a Tiger not being one of them

I thought Lulu looked much younger than her actual years :) ..............but I agree L&H the closing ceremony was boring

............and where was all the rain that the forecasters predicted for the whole ceremony.
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

I loved Shout in the 60's and I love it now. One of my civil service colleagues hated Lulu with a passion but at her retirement party we got the dj to play Shout and we got her up on the floor and danced around her.

.. ...I wil listen to the duet with Elton ....now he is talented .... :? .....my dear dad couldn't abide either Cilla or Lu Lu  .he did not like the sixties singers much at all ...apart from the Stones ...( lived near us but Mum and Dad came from Maidstone ....)he loved Lisa stansfield (Yorkshire lass) ...and Kate Bush ...( went to school about five miles from here) .....I think my best all timers are both American ...Barbara Streisand ..and Bette Midler ..... ....oh and Donna Summer ....and the girl who sang Fame ...Irene Cara......Mum love Matt of course ...introduced by her to his songs 8)

Seen Elton live but couldn't enjoy it totally as was a mad rush from having just moved into our first home in gillingham ...29 years ago ....when Nikita was out .... My dad loved to watch the Andy Stewart show new year eve...many moons ago  ....
