Buddy Greco

Post by john » Wed Jan 11, 2017 8:58 am

I was very sorry to read that the singer and musician Buddy Greco has passed away aged 90. He made a lot of great albums over the years and had a lovely voice. I remember seeing him at the Matt Monro book launch back in 2011.

I did a bit of work for Buddy including remastering an album - still unreleased regrettably. We spoke on the phone often following our meeting at EMI. He was a lovely guy and very enthusiastic about my work. He was ill for quite some time. I felt he went back to Vegas as he knew he didn't have long left. His last phone conversations with me before he went back to the US showed he wasn't as bright as he once had been.

Disappointing that major media outlets like the BBC seem to have ignored his passing so far (at least at the time of writing).

I was very sad to hear this news this morning. R.I.P. Buddy Greco.
As you say Richard, no mention of his passing on the news that I've seen.

RIP Buddy Greco. As you say no mention on the news, I think he deserved that but his own website hasn't mentioned it either so far.
