I was waiting for a comment on Clare Teals Malcolm Laycock programme last night.
I kept an open mind but found it ironical that a lot of her choice of music was from the 30's!
Personally I had only heard of a couple of the numbers and nearly 'dropped off' before David.
Perhaps it will improve. At least she partly did some diary dates at the end.
Will try it again next week. :(

We were listening too Sandra, and we do like Clare Teal, but some of the recordings that she was playing were from the very era that Malcolm Laycock was barred from playing and was at the root of the trouble and the complaints right from the start.

An article in todays Express about George Alagiah finishes with this:
'The news comes on the same day that Radio 2's long standing night presenter Malcolm Laycock resigned his post after 14 years following a series of "long running disputes" with the BBC.
Mr Laycock who hosted the popular Sunday Night at 10 show, announced on air that he would not be returning because his contract was not renewed by BBC.
His decision to quit was unpopular with listeners.
Many have voiced their disapproval to BBC Radio 2 controller Bob Shennan' :?

There you go!
Looks like the reasons are little to do with the music! :D

Did anyone see Malcolm Laycock giving his EXPERT opinion on BBC4's
programme LEGENDS last night.
This week it was about JAMES LAST who isn't my cup of tea-all that 'OOMPAH'! :) :)

James Last is an unusual performer--there are 2 completely different sides to him---the loud, party side---and then the really lovely classical side. We had all his classical records---they made classical music easy to listen to---and very enjoyable. Our favourite album of his was called "Classics for Dreaming", which has some beautiful music on it, and still remains one of my favourite albums. As far as I know , it never was released as a cd, although I have managed to copy it myself onto a cd.

The classical James Last is my kind of James Last.

We had also seen the Legends before on James Last, and we agree Sandra he does often emphasise on the brass section, but really impressive when it comes to the string section, he's up there with the best.
I've just been playing his non-stop evergreens, a great party selection and these songs benefit from the brass.
It's all down to choices.
We know that Edgar and his wife are staunch fans. :) :)

For all non-James Last fans--take a listen to something like "Ballade pour Adeline"--just stunning.
