SIMON DEE.

Post by Lena & Harry Smith » Sun Aug 30, 2009 4:42 pm

Sad to hear that Simon Dee, former Radio Disc Jockey, chat show host and interviewer in the Sixties, has died from Bone cancer at the age of 74.

Sad news-Simon had a very successful & iconicTV Chat Show in the sixties-before falling from grace. Just about everyone guested on his shows-he tried several times to come back but sadly never made it again.R.I.P.

As we know our Matt started out as a bus driver, and after Simon Dee finally came off the dole he finished up as a bus driver.

I was indeed sad to see this. I am old enough to remember Simon Dee and how big he was in the 60s, and it's a shame that he fell from grace so markedly. Didn't realise he was as old as 74, which would have put him in his early 30s in his heyday, as I would have assumed he was in his 20s then. Unfortunately most of his famous chat shows do not exist to view now as they were shown live and/or wiped. Shame.

EVANESCENCE

Like an ignited flame
that quickly grew,
then warmly shone,
so cruel short-span fame
a cold blast blew
and it was gone.

How times have changed-Simon lost his job for something quite trivial compared with the Jonathan Ross 'gaff'!
