Well at least it was ta ta to the Wally with the Brolly, but giving him the boot doesn't change the fact that we are out of the Euro 2008 games, and to think here we were jumping three feet high when Crouch scored that magnificent goal, convinced that this was the turning point. Wrong again

:)
The Wally with the Brolly hails from York, so i had a tiny smidge of compassion for him last night, as I think the players let him down terribly.
That being said, he should of resigned as it has been a very poor 18 games under his management.

Yes, poor Rodney Marsh was shell shocked, wasn't he Robert?
As we all were!

Next summer is gonna be miserable :(

Yes Gray, it's nowhere near the same without our own country competing, and listening to what Mclaren had to say somewhat added to our wrath.... i'm a better manager now than i was Eighteen months ago.... and i'll recover.
Maybe the £2 Million pay off in spite of being a complete loser will contribute to that.

Next summer will be miserable, especially if we get the weather we got this summer

They asked the wrong Mclaren to go into the jungle............it should have been Steve.........not Malcolm

Except Malcolm did not ever get there--as far as I know.

No Jeff. England have just failed to qualify for the 2008 European Football Championship next summer, which are held also every four years. So every two years there is the World Cup or the European Championship

Thanks Robert for the explanation. Sarah Kennedy said everyone at the BBC was gutted, but I didn't understand the impact of the loss.

Are Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands still in the competition?

As Marian says, they are not, but the Isle of Man and Channel Islands (?) come under the England banner  as they do not have international football teams.

Amen to that Gray, except for the loss to Germany bit.
And we can look forward to Leeds United's
future with equanimity,
however the prospects for Robert's Hull City
are a matter of concern to me.

Hi Keith--did you intend to rhyme "Equanimity" with "concern to me"---if so, that's very clever--if not, it's even cleverer.

But I would guess that you did !!

Hi Keith

Thanks for your message, yes Leeds have started the season strongly, which is very encouraging.
I am on my knees praying this is our last season in League One! (And I don't mean I'll accept relegation to League Two!) :)
