Hi Paul--yes, that is Jill, my sister who likes Westlife. She watches American Idol too, and we always have discussions on the shows afterwards on the phone. She is Still trying to watch the end of "Dancing with the Stars"---because she works full time still, she does not get as much free time as I do.
My other sister Carole does not watch the US shows, but she does watch the Uk shows.

I just saw clips, but there were very disturbing results last night on X Factor. I really don't like this show and its format.

Yes, Paul, there is always something to do !
We both love "Dancing with the Stars" because there can be some brilliant dancing--and true, we only know a few of the Celebrities--but anyone from outside Uk, who saw our "Strictly" would be in the same position--it does not stop the enjoyment of the show.
Just caught up with US X Factor, while I was having lunch-and skipping the ads etc.
I agree Melanie does seem to be getting more and more desperate, and that is not attractive. For the first time ever, I liked Chris Rene--at the end -on a guitar with his own song---his voice really suited that kind of music. I was unimpressed by Marcus and Josh---but I thought the star of the show was Rachel-I loved both her songs--I especially liked her in the 2nd song, wearing what I would call a "grownupdress" sparkly earrings, lovely hair style, still looking her age, but more feminine than she sometimes does--I really want Rachel to win.
Looking forward to American Idol---i loved Steven tyler last year--plus I hate all the rivalry between judges, which impact on the singers.

Just caught by accident what happened on the show last night-I will not spoil it in case anyone else is watching--but Nicole is just a wimp !
What in the world is she being paid for---she should be kicked off the programme if she cannot make a decision at such a crucial time. Shame on you Nicole, no wonder you could not talk at the end.

I'm watching the full episode at a friend's house next week. Apparently the audience booed Nicole. I've heard she'll be replaced next year by Kelly Rowland. Then Nicole can go back to The Sing Off where she's much better.

I just watched the whole show, and Rachel did not deserve to go-especially the way she did, purely because Nicole could not decide how to vote--she seemed like a worse crybaby than Rachel.
Apart from that, I thought Marcus was just awful in the sing off. How on earth could they praise Rachel for her song, and then for her not to go through. Why did she get the fewest votes-did everyone assume she was safe ?
I am really cross about this result-not just Rachel went, but Nicole's part in it.

I get to see if on next Wednesday night. I'll get upset all over again. My viewing friend has already seen it and she's furious too. A friend at work will be very cross when he returns on Monday. His whole family watches it together.

Rachel has become America's sweetheart, almost like a modern day Shirley Temple. I can't recall a recent young girl who has captured America's imagination like Rachel.

Paul, thanks for that information--there is so little news over here about x factor usa--I just spotted the clip on AOL. Lots of really nasty comments on the letters page, which I have replied to . Many seem to think it funny to see a young girl in distress.

This was the first time I voted and that was for Rachel. I was really mega pissed when they booted her off. I felt so sorry for her when she had her break down. Marcus will be a flash in the pan and his cd's will probably do good the first weak, then in a month they'll be regulated to the bargin bins and then worse the shops no one goes too at all. He has no redeeming qualities about him and his vocals are just week. With Rachel we could grow with her on her journey. I do think this isn't the last we will see of her as she's really got THE X-FACTOR..hmmm darn you NICOLE..speaking of which what happened to Eden's Garden and The Pussycat Dolls both groups she fronted for..

I agree with all you have said Eman-if I could I would have voted for Rachel too.. I think it will take a long time for Nicole to bounce back from this-I think the worst of it, is that she did not vote for Rachel because she was the worst singer--but purely because she did not know what to do !! But she is supposed to be a judge, and that is part of what they do. I bet Simon is furious with her-rightfully so.

Marian, he'll be like those past American Idols and the runner ups like Justin Guarini, Taylor Hicks, and all those other people who won based on popularity not talent. What I can't stand are the comments people are making and taking joy at seeing a child have a melt down. That's just plain cruel and stupid!

I agree Eman--some of the comments on the AOl site have been rude and abusive--totally uncalled for--I think many of them did not see the whole show-let alone the whole series, and just based their opinion on the Youtube Clip-I posted several comments myself--asking why they thought is was funny to see a 13 year old in distress.
I thought I liked Nicole-especially when she sat in over here for Cheryl--now I just despise her for being weak.

Hey Mariana, Some people on you tube can be so stupid and really vulgar. It's amazing they get to post their cruel and abusive comments. I always get upset when I see things in the news about kids being hurt or harmed and just to see a child sad and unhappy bothers me. I just hope Rachel Crow makes good and a name for herself and sticks it to all her detractors. As for Nicole..let's not go there..I though I liked her also, now I see her as spineless and she's easily swayed by the popular vote. Tsk tsk..fair and impartial is what it takes to be a judge, but I guess not.

I remember seeing the UK's Marcus when I was there in September. I'm happy he's in the finals as I thought he was great when he sang Use Somebody.
Eman is right: the US Marcus will go nowhere. I think he could do Broadway or Las Vegas, but he won't have hit records.

Paul, I expect Marcus to have a cd and it will have some big hype at a store like Target and there will be special editions, after that it will be regulated to the bargin bins along with Fantasia, Ruben Studdard (I was so pissed when he sang "Flying Without Wings"..he ruined the Westlife song), Taylor Hicks, Diana DeGarmo etc..then later after it doesn't sell, it'll go to a store like "Big Lots" or worse.
