FAVOURITE SOUNDTRACK OR CAST ALBUM
Re: FAVOURITE SOUNDTRACK OR CAST ALBUM
I think I didn't like that one because of David Essex's singing, it just wasn't right...oh well. Yep that is strange.

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF----rarely mentioned on here, but I just love it--beautiful film, and some lovely songs on the soundtrack.
I actually went to see it, when it first opened in London, many years ago, with Topol. It was so full up, my friend and I had to stand at the back, all the way through--and it is a long show !
They do not allow that these days.

I was always amazed seeing that Marian as they never allowed it here, at least not in my time.
And Eamon checkout the great songs David Essex did in the musical Mutiny with Frank Finlay. I have seen David in concert a few times over the years and he's actually a better singer than yoi think, he was here last year in a musical All The Fun Of The Fair but I never got round to seeing it, I curtailed all these luxuries as I was going to Australia.

Karl,
I heard about that show and was intrigued! Wasn't David Essex's son in it also. That was also one of my fave David Essex lps as a kid! One of the Captains I know loves David Essex and has most of his records from various countries!!

Yes, loving it Sandra.
I saw David Essex in Mutiny when Sinitta appeared in the show . Apparently they practically took the stage floor out to create the scenery. It was incredible. Like watching a movie.
I and 11 others at our social club won tickets to see the show and the deal was that David Essex met us after the performance and for a photo taken with him. I still have the photo.

Lena and Harry, does he still look as cool as he did in his heyday. I know he's older, but just interested as he was part of my childhood.
I heard he was a really nice guy though. As for Sinitta, ugh....

Re: FAVOURITE SOUNDTRACK OR CAST ALBUM
Eman, David Essex is not as handsome as when he was younger, but is still very attractive.I had a friend who went to all his concerts--he did a new tour practically every year when he was younger-there were a few songs I liked apart from the Evita song--like "Myvanwy" ""Winters tale"--but not enough to buy his cds.
I just caught up with the story of the Musicals this morning-loved it---great to see "Evita" and talking about the Julie Covington version, and showing the names of the cast-including Tony Christie--just affter he has been so recently mentioned on here.

Re: FAVOURITE SOUNDTRACK OR CAST ALBUM
Eman that was quite a few years ago when I saw Mutiny, and David was very good looking then with those gorgeous blue eyes. He saw us immediately after the show and still had his show clothes on, and the perspiration was running down his face. It may have been because he had the hots for Sinnitta at that particular time.
We also saw him when he was guest at a holiday centre here in Weymouth but as Marian has said time has taken it's toll.
We have been having the same thoughts about Tommy Steele too seeing him recently on TV.
Mind you we are in the same boat unfortunately

Eamon, David appeared in the tv soap Eastenders a few months ago for a short run, I don't watch soaps but I caught the odd glimpse at my neighbours house as they so watch soaps. David has changed a lot, gone are the head of curls and infact you would not recognise him - he is still a handsome man but much older looking.
Re: FAVOURITE SOUNDTRACK OR CAST ALBUM
Lena and Harry, funny you should mention Tommy Steele. My Grandfather and Uncles sent my a compilation cd of his for Xmas along with Marty Wilde, Adam Faith ( a 6 cd set) and Billy Fury. His music is ok to me, but I like Marty Wilde and Adam Faith the best of the Brit type rockers!! Though Adam Faith is more of a Cliff type huh?
