We made it through the snow armed with coffee and sandwiches, the whole audience of 10 settled down for the marathon viewing of Les Mis.
Two things first,we had a chatty french lady who was on holiday, behind us.She was hoping to be able to see it in her native tongue when she returned home to France.Second,we had an usherette
with a tray of ice cream (was she joking!) standing awaiting our custom-haven't seen one of those at the cinema for years
I agree with Karl, the film was brilliant, but nothing can compare with the stage show,it takes first place for me any time.
My favourites were Marius played by Eddie Redmayne and Eponine-Samantha Barks.I really cried when Eponine sang 'A little drop of rain'.Also the boy who played Gavroche deserves a mention.
Hugh Jackman was fabulous as Jean Valjean, what a draining performance.Anne Hathaway as Fantine,Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter as the Thenardiers all excellent.
The only person I had a niggle with was Amanda Seyfried as the grown up Cosette. She,to me,had a really irritating singing voice.I had thought so since hearing tracks on the radio, and didn't change my mind.
I woud like to think that Eddie Redmayne and Samantha Bark would be part of the many awards bestowed on this film.
Like Karl,we stayed through the credits, partly because we were all emotionally drained and needed time to pull ourselves together.Brilliant
