The World Cup( what d'ya think of it so far ?)
Hi Gray and everyone. I agree 100% with you Gray regarding the soap opera's. I dont mind watching the odd episode, but between 7 - 9 pm they seem to be on non stop every day.
Going on to Matts favourite team, I would guess at West Ham, but only a guess. For some reason the Hammer's stick in my mind.

Excuse me, but what's all this "us" when talking about England. As a foreigner from over the water whose team didn't qualify (and never will) for the World Cup, I take great exception to supporting the "old enemy:) ,only kidding of course
. I am old enough to remember 1966 and then it was a case of " We won the World Cup" meaning that ours is supposed to be a "United" Kingdom. How things have changed (for the worse). Don't forget, you'll have to miss the start of the game in an hour's time. I think there's a programme about some singer on BBC2!

Hi Gray, Robert, Edgar and all, there was one soap that we watched religiously, Eastenders, but gave up watching a few months ago. simply because the stupid story lines just went round in circles, everyone shacking up .
Surprise ending to the Australia V Japan game, a bigger surprise to me when I awoke after dozing off Twenty minutes before the end. Three goals in about the last seven minutes.?
USA V Czech Republic deserved to win, and a Good game Italy v Ghana. great goals
The more games and players that we watch, the more apprehensive we feel for Thursday, but we must have faith.

Hi All
Yes, sorry Edgar, here's us English rabbitting on about 1966 again, (by the way, did you know we beat Germany that year?
You didn't! Oh well, let me tell you what happened minute by minute!)
Only joking.
One of my all time favourite players was Welsh, John Charles, he played for my team Leeds United and Wales in the '58 World Cup.
Lena & Harry: Thursday, oh my goodness, I'm getting twitchy. 4 strikers (2 unfit and 1 untried) in the squad doesn't look enough does it?
But we mustn't lose faith - after the first game we certainly haven't peaked too early!

Hi Gray, yes you're right we mustn't lose faith,
and injuries and knocks are probably happening in most of the teams.
John Charles was a world class player. Tremendous. I could talk about him all day, saw him play several times including Wales. He was revered in italy.
Just watched Brazil's win, not all what we were expecting. The heat's playing the biggest part.
Hopefully cooler by Thursday.

Hello Lena and Harry and everyone. Yes, Brazil were rather dissapointing tonight, but it think they were playing in 2nd gear all the way through. I believe they could have upper their tempo and scored again had Croatia equalised. No wonder Ronaldo was taken off. Did you see him wipe his brow when he came off, but there was no sweat at all on his brow.!!!! ...........He looked like the "Fat Controller". (I hope I don't regret saying that, if Brazil play England, later on in the competition).

In the early 60's, the travel Company I worked for also owned Cardiff City Football Club and it was they that they brought John Charles home from Italy to "play out his tme" at Ninian Park. I was only in my 20's at the time and I ws completely overawed at meeting this man and having the pleasure of knowing him for a number of years. He was as gentle off the field as on, and to my mind was the best footballer Wales ever produced. With regard to last night's football, Brazil surely can play better than that. They never got out of second gear and all this talk of "it's too hot", well I feel really sorry for them! On their wages they should be able to walk over hot coals to play. Ridiculous! I only hope that, should England lose, they don't balme the heat for thieir failures.

Hi Edgar, we can imagine the pleasure and privelege that you feel at having known this gentle giant of a player. Some though not all, of todays over rated and over paid players could learn a great deal from players such as him.
Anyway today's the day and we can only wish our lads all the best and hope they shine.
"Come On England ":)

Hello dottie, Edgar and everyone. So who should England play in the next round, Equador or Germany. Both very hard matches, but I would definitely prefer them to miss playing the host's Germany. What does everyone else think about that.

Oh my goodness, that was hairy last night, England looked awful for an hour, but, at least we are through and at the moment that is all that matters.
I would definately prefer to play Equador in the next round, meeting the host nation so early in the competition wouldn't be a good idea, me thinks!
