Re: 'X'FACTOR 2009
I had been really looking forward to last night--"BIg Band Week"--but I was so disappointed---I did not really like most of the songs---Stacey, my favourite was made up to look about 50---and how they could include "She bangs" as a big band number is beyond me--at least Jamie's song "Angel of Harlem" sounded more in the big band style. So how Louis had the cheek to criticise Simon's song choice is just not on.
John and Edward must go!!
Looking forward to seeing Michael Buble and Westlife tonight !!

Re: 'X'FACTOR 2009
Hi Mariana, like you I was looking forward to last nights show, and liked the input from michael buble. Things got off to an interesting start with Olli singing the vocal version of the 'Bewitched' theme. I didn't have a problem with backflips but like Louis I did object to a few songs that weren't 'big band' enough for me. I include Rachels 'rolling on the river' as well 'angel of harlem' both of which are old school r&b in my book. I did enjoy all the performances but Lucy and Miss Frank were very polished. The Twins did another bizarre song choice. All of this shows how scared the judges are to push the boundaries with their song choices. They say they don't patronise the contestant but they certainly don't apply that to the audience. They could have been much more innovative with their song choices but stck to what they think the people at home are going to vote for.

Some good performances last night. I really liked Lucy's performance, and Miss Frank were pretty good too. I like Stacey as well, but I don't think it was the right song choice for her last night.
As for the twins, definitely time for them to go, but I am betting they will still be here for a while yet.

Re: 'X'FACTOR 2009
Mike-I was wondering why I thought Ollie's song sounded familiar--I did not recognise it as such--but I knew I knew it--of course--from "Bewitdhed "

Re: 'X'FACTOR 2009
I recognized it Marian because as you know I love the "Bewitched" tv series.

Re: 'X'FACTOR 2009
I agree with all you said Mike. The 'big band' week was pathetic
The same applies for most of the music chosen for 'Strictly'
Still wouldn't miss either programme though, the good outweighs the bad

I forgot to say that I had really enjoyed Joe's and Daniel's performances. Mariana, marc was convinced I was wrong about the 'Bewitched' track all day! It was only when he saw the replay tonight he realised he was wrong.
Tonight result was the wrong one really. The young blonde guy and the Twins should have been in the sing-off and the Twins should have gone. Miss Frank and Daniel didn't desErve to be in the bottom two. I guess that the Twins are being kept in by the same voting loyalties that tie the Eurovision up in knots!
I do find it ironic that Louis has lost his strongest players while he has continually backed the twins.
Great to see the live performances from Westlife (I am off to download the new single now - the boys seem back on form!) and the great sound of Michael Buble and his Bondesque rendition of 'cry me a river'. Two of Pauls favourites acts all on one show!

I agree with Marian that Jamie's U2 song was good and the arrangement didn't seem out of place; couldn't really understand Louis' criticism of it. Also can't understand why the young blonde guy wasn't in the sing-off: he doesn't have a strong voice, but I guess the young viewers are keeping him in. Some of the contestants seemed too young for the songs they were singing, and I thought Stacey gave the weakest performance she's given so far. Lucie for me!

Sandra - I know just what you mean! For some reason this year both programmes have got me hooked, and I am glad to see that the BBC has relented and rescheduled Strictly!
