I'm sure it must have been Lena Robert. Harry's only added about twenty of their combined postings!!!

No Harry nor I are particularly admirers of Cliff Robert, or his singing come to that.

Michael Parkinson was a guest on Paul O'Grady's Show this evening.
He looked very well, and said he was pleased to be giving up his shows after so many years. He emphasised he is not retiring though, he wants to do other things, and spend more time with his grandchildren.
Dickie Bird was brought on as a surprise guest, as he is an old friend, also from Barnsley, and he brought Parky a Christmas gift.
There were clips shown of early Parkinson shows with Alec Guinness, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and Bette Midler. He also reminisced about meeting Mohammed Ali and Nelson Mandela, and also talked about his infamous interview with Meg Ryan, and his encounter with Emu!

We saw the Paul O'Grady show too Marian and enjoyed the dance routine even with Parky looking less embarrased as he normally does, and surprisingly enough no tears from D icky Bird
We had heard the story before of Parky's interview with cantankerous and miserable Meg Ryan. Reminding her of One or Two of her movies "When Harry Met Sally" .for instance might have sweetened her up a little.

I watched the Meg Ryan interview, it was so uncomfortable to watch.
I actually felt sorry for her as well as Michael Parkinson.

It should be a good show tomorrow night, with guests Jamie Cullam, Michael Caine, David Attenborough, Judi Dench, Billy Connoly, Dame Edna Everage, David Beckham and Peter Kay. :)

We watched this show tonight, and when Judi Dench sang, Thanks For The Memories it's about the only time we can remember Parky ever showing signs of emotion, 8) even though the lyrics included a reference to that dreaded Emu disappearing up a certain part of his anatomy.
David Beckam was his usual polite self . Nothing more to say than what we've heard before. Billy Connolly was quiet tonight, but Peter Kay was in a party mood with all the props and suggesting jobs Parky can do in the light of his retirement, like a lollipop man complete with uniform and cap, and putting an emergency pendant round his neck when he's in his sheltered accomodation flat.
Edna Everage came on and sang The Party's Over in his or her own words.
We enjoyed this show. :) :)

We enjoyed the show too Lena and Harry, although the later guests didn't seem to get much time to chat. As you say, there was nothing new from David Beckham, and I thought he could have had a little less time, it all seemed a bit rushed a the end. Didn't particularly like Jamie Cullum's song either, but it was nice for Laurie Holloway to get a mention from Dame Edna before singing "The Parky's Over"!
All in all though it was an enjoyable couple of hours, and we'll certainly miss "Parkinson" on tv.
The "Best Of" show should be good next week.
