DANCE DIVERSION

A latter-day Dashing White Sergeant,
Sir Roger de Coverley,
John Sergeant does the soft shoe shuffle
away from Strictly;
the victim of his perverse nationwide popularity,
did he lead or follow to the strains
of the heirarchy?

Just spotted it on the news page---I do not think it is right that he has been virtually "forced" to leave , due to comments from judges etc etc---he did nothing wrong, and he was entitled to stay right to the end--just like Chris Parker did. I do not think that Cherie should have gone--or Lisa--but that is the way that the show was set up, from the beginning.
Maybe if the judges had not been soi harsh with John, he may have not got so many votes, and left earlier.

Only the other night Arlene Phillips said on "It takes 2" that the rules of the show should not change. !!!!

I agree Marian I have just watched an hour of this and John's explanation and all the reasons for deciding to pull out.
I felt so sorry for Christina who was really upset, and so angry at the panel. What a bunch of hypercrits, who have made such horrid remarks on the show and in the newspapers about how other dancers have been voted off when it should have been John, and now this evening they have had the gall to say that they are sorry that he has decided to withdraw from the competition, also after Jame's ( Cheri's partner's ) comments on this same show, I'm sorry that Cheri has had to leave, but I can't say the same for him.
I'm sure the panel will all now get together in private and say ,.... let the competition begin.

I must admit I don't watch "Strictly Come Dancing" but it is a shame that John has decided to pull out of the competition. I know from reading the papers that he has had some stick from the judges over the past few weeks, but at the end of the day the viewers like him and have voted for him to stay in the competition. He is a really nice and down to earth guy.

What an idiot!
All those people who telephone-voted,NOT FREE OF CHARGE,were wrong!
Why did he enter in the first place?
I thought it was a programme of light entertainment not a serious attempt to gain more'celebrity'or a career boost like 'in The jungle'.
Another BBC 'clanger'! :D

Morning all,

This is probably the reason why I don't watch TV! :?
I suppose when you are watching the show or any other "entertainment" show you don't really see the whole picture! [please dust off the TV screen!]

What I am saying it that sometimes the viewers of this show or any of the other TV shows can be sweep along with what is being said on the show and also in the newspapers.

I think that Mark has got it right. Just like the "Jungle" show, those taking part in the "dancing" show do this to hopefully win and if they are lucky, also win the hearts of the viewers and maybe a TV deal with......loads of money!  :D

You got it,Hilary.
These so-called'reality'shows thrive on premium rate phone-ins-'X'Factor,Britains Got Talent,In The Jungle ,Big Brother, the ITV Skate-off,Who Wants To Be A Millionaire etc.etc..However,with all the expense of production etc.the producers are'miffed'when the outcome isn't one they lik or expected. Look at all those 'fiddled'phone results on ITV.BBC & others. They were caught out fixing the results. Another public con as are all premium rate phone numbers.
I challenge anyone to get audience tickets for 'Strictly..' Most are freebies for other so-called'celebrities'.
Sorry,I've never heard of half of'em. :D

Interesting comments Hilary and Mark, and I do agree with you.

That being said, I watch and enjoy, "Strictly..." and "I'm a Celebrity..."
I don't vote, I just take the programs as a bit of fun and entertainment.

However, I really cannot stand Big Brother.

So I pick and choose the trash TV I want to watch :)

Like you Gray, I can't stand "Big Brother", I just can't see the point of it, and yet I know someone who can't see enough of this programme and sits up all day and night watching it. Like watching paint dry really, but that is my opinion.
I do sometimes watch "I'm A Celebrity" though, there is a lot more to this programme than "Big Brother" with all the trials etc.

I am still enjoying "Strictly" although now Christine has gone it is a very open race, and I would not like to say who would win.

But I was surprised seeing Elaine Paige in the audience and being interviewed later--I hardly recognised her---it is hard to pinpoint how she had changed--was it her hair-or just getting older-I really do not know, but she looked very different.

Well it must be too close to call now we are so near the final, and with 3 such excellent couples left in. I was sorry though to see Austin and Erin go on Sunday. Nice to see Barry Manilow on the show too, and not miming!

I enjoyed seeing Barry on SCD also.

It was hard to guess who would go, but I suppose as Austin and Erin had the lowest marks, it was quite likely they would go.

I have no idea who will win--they are all so good, so I do not mind ---although it would be good to see Camilla win, as she has not won before--but then again neither has Brendan or Vincente.

I think that was the best results--not for the reason given--which was a tie with the top two, making it impossible for Tom to miss the dance -off--but quite honestly, I do not think that they should have done the Argentine tango--which Brendan had never danced-so he had to learn it-and teach Lisa in a week !!

Whereas we all know Vincente is the world Champion at Argentine tango-
and yes, he is great--but somewhat an uneven playing field especially for a semi-final.
