Hi Lena and Harry and all. Did you watch the Portugal v. Holland game. Bit of a farce, spoiled by 16 yellow card's and four sending's off. Player's seem to go down for nothing nowaday's, they feel a player near them and crumple in a heap as if they had been pole-axed. I know some of the tackles deserved a booking, but not all of them. The referee lost the plot a little bit. A bit like Graham Poll did earlier this week.

As for England, at least they are through to the quarter final's. Can't say much more than that. The sun disappeared when the player's took to the field, which helped England in the heat.

Hi Robert, yes a farce alright, and Figo's act would win an Oscar, he wasn't touched.
We had too many long boots from the keeper getting nowhere, but we're through. So well done lads.

Hi Robert, yes not a lot to say is there, it's disappointing for the team, for England, and all the supporters.
Everyone in the country who knows anything about football could see the mistakes in the system from the first game, but that's just one excuse ......

"England's coming home.
They're coming home" !!!

Really bad luck losing on penalties---again !!!

After struggling so long with 10 men , it was really hard to lose that way.

We will never know if Rooney had stayed on if the result would have been different. But maybe this will make him reflect, and not be quite so hot-headed in the future.

This isn't another excuse, but did anybody see the early head nudge from Cristiano Ronaldo on Wayne Rooney, and after the send-off the wink from Ronaldo as much as to say, the plan worked.
This was noted and discussed on the panel, and Shearer said what he thought Rooney would feel like doing in return.
Hot-headed maybe, but we'd back him on this.

Hi Lena and Harry--I agree, that they were probably out to get Rooney, and I confess that I think the red card was a bit harsh. But all the high profile players are liable to get tested in this way--it seems part of the game these days, I am sorry to say !!

Hello everyone. When I first saw the incident, I thought Christiano Ronaldo was just having a bit of a lark with his Man Utd team mate, but there must have been more to it, as friend's don't come up and bang you on the back of your head, do they.??

Hi Marian and Robert. The refereeing has been diabolical, and for a referee to be influenced and egged on by a player to give a card is a disgrace. :?
Yes Marian, Beckham has given up his Captaincy.

Hi Lena and Harry, Mariana44 and all. I agree with you Lena and Harry about the referee's, they have been diabolical during the tournament. But who'd be a referee nowaday's, when player's go down so easily, as though they had been hit by a ton of feather's. (They go down these day's after being hit by a single feather). The ref's probably don't have a clue as to whether the player's have been fouled or not. So who'd be a referee these day's. ????

Hello Lena and Harry and everyone. What a great, exciting, open game between Germany and Italy tonight, the best team definitely won. End to end football, played in good spirit's, and the Mexican referee had a really good match, letting the game flow, without blowing his whistle too often. 8) 8)

Hi Robert, yes you are right, a great game Germany v Italy, and played in good spirit. The game flowed because of the good refereeing.
Shame one team had to go out.

Hi Everyone,

What shall we all do when the World Cup has finished!
I can't remember now what life was like before the footie took over.

At least the TV schedules will soon be back to normal again.
My Gran is looking forward to seeing "Emmerdale" back on at the regular time.
