Don Black on Radio 2
Re: Don Black on Radio 2
On a programme dedicated to female song writers Don played "matchless Matt" singing his wonderful version of the ballad The Party's Over
............…Don must like Peggy Lee he yet again played another song by her 3 or 4 weeks on the trot now
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
Re: Don Black on Radio 2

Another good show this week and The Party's Over beautifully sung by Matt.
This weeks salute to female songwriters included a great song Joanna penned by the very talented Jackie Trent with music by Tony Hatch. Hope you got to listen to the show Karl.
Don also played Peggy Lee again this week.

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Don played tribute to his late brother Michael who passed away last October aged 93......he played Michael's wife Julie Rogers singing her big 60's hit The Wedding
......................Don also played another Peggy Lee song on his show again, but it was the brilliant The Folks Who Live On the Hill
.........................and Don played "matchless Matt" singing the jaunty How Little We Know which was a favourite Matt song of Mariana44
………….oh and did you guess the singer correctly ……….I did but I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't listened to the programme yet.

I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

I just read this (March 4th), thank you for telling me. I never listen to Don's show as I'm usually in bed by the time his show starts.maureen & harry wrote:Another good show this week and The Party's Over beautifully sung by Matt.

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
I've kind of got out the habit of listening to the radio. Always used to tune in to Elaine Paige & Paul O'Grady on Sunday but not for awhile, only time I tend to listen now is in the car or the kitchen. However I will be tuning in to the three parter on Dusty around her birthday in April.Sandra wrote:It makes excellent breakfast listening the next morning Karl x

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Just listened to Don's show which we enjoyed especially Matt singing How Little We Know. We think he will soon be playing Pretty Polly which he mentioned some weeks ago. We did guess the singer Robert as Steve & Eydie are among our favourites.
We agree Don played a lovely version by Peggy Lee and there is a very nice concert on You Tube called "The Quintessential Peggy Lee Live in 1984." which is well worth a look if you haven't seen it.
Karl, we always listen to Don the day after broadcast as we record it on Sunday so if you do that you can listen any time you choose.

We record most things from tv on to our freeview box Karl. Radio 2 is listed under number 702 and all we do is press the record button on the freeview remote and it then records on to the box ready to play back on the tv whenever we choose.
Hope this info is helpful ☺
