I am on my tablet, so sorry for any errors.

I thought David sounded very weak and breathless last nigit is now obvious why he could not continue with his show. He sounded emotional at the end. I am going to miss him.

But on saying that, I do enjoy listening to Don Black,
Mariana

I don't know about a stroke, but I know he has been frail for the last couple of years. He was invited to the last Book/CD Launch and wanted to come, but was to ill to attend.

It was good to hear David play Vic Damone, such a great voice. I am so glad I saw him sing in the States years ago and to meet him.

I also enjoyed Jerry Vale's Old Cape Cod, my Stateside friends used to play a lot of Patti Page and she also recorded that.

I only got as far as Marni Nixon's songs but I will go back and listen to the rest.

Has David had a stroke? Brian Matthews sounds far stronger than him and they are of a similar age.
You seem to be a fan of Sounds of the '60s and have requested songs. Brian's surname is Matthew, not Matthews.

Paul it's strange how you correct me on Brian Matthew but when I asked if you wanted any Jackie Trent records burned you totally ignored me!!!! - TWICE!
When one speaks of Brian we often say Matthews.

I listened to the last David Jacobs Collection today. Very sad as his programme always capped off an evening of listening to Radio 1 and 2 and reading all the Sunday newspapers on my trips to London: the chart show on Radio 1 , followed by Melodies for You, Sunday Half Hour, Your Hundred Best Tunes, Sunday Night at Ten with Malcolm Laycock, and The David Jacobs Collection.

I hope you all continued listening to hear the nice words from Janice Long. She said he was the most gracious gentleman. She met him first many years ago at a Radio 1 dinner and would often see him at the Radio 2 studios. You can still "listen again" to her words (on Sunday only).

I'm pleased he closed with Bing Crosby. He did love Marni Nixon and Robert Goulet. I would have preferred Matt's version of This is All I Ask.

It was nice to receive an e-mail from a BBC assistant broadcaster today to thank us for the message that we sent to David after he announced his retirement from his regular programme, but he is planning to make the occasional return from time to time . :) :)
