Perhaps Don will play something from the new album this week.

Don was presenting tonight's show from his home as he is self isolating with him being over 70 years old...…...he played yet another Matt song from the Hoagy Carmichael album...…..as I have said before it must be the only Matt album he poses ! ……………..he played the track The Nearness of You :)

Don played some nice songs but Mike's wish for a track from the new CD was not to be. Fingers crossed for next week that he will choose from a different album which should be easy as there are so many to choose from. ☺

Don't hold your breath Maureen and Harry...……….I just don't think Don realised how many song's Matt recorded until he checked Matts song discography a couple of weeks ago, which is unbelievable really, no wonder he kept playing the same songs all the time (especially from the Hoagy Carmichael album) !! …………..

Tonight's programme was Don's penultimate show of the series …………...and it was a good one with Don presenting from his home ………...I think Don should end the mystery singer because they are usually quite easy to guess, like tonight's was...……...he said he had only played this song when sung by Barbara Streisand, he then played "matchless Matt" singing the lovely People so was playing Matt's version of the song for the first time on his show ......…let's hope he plays other Matt songs he hasn't played before in future series (looking at Matts discography must have opened his eyes) :)

Also forgot to say he played Anthony Newley singing Who Can I Turn To ........listening to Anthony Newley's version of the song I thought to myself……. Matts version is 100 per cent times better...….just no comparison :)

We enjoyed this week's show and we agree Robert with your comments about Anthony Newley.

Sorry it will be the last show next week but thankfully Don said he will be back to do another series.

We really enjoyed Johnny Mathis singing The Folks Who Live On The Hill. We hadn't heard it for some time so it was nice to hear again.

We are still keeping our fingers crossed that Don will play a track from Matt's new CD (if he has one!). 🙄 🙄

After playing a JM song Don always says ……."the angelic voice of Johnny Mathis" ……...and if he plays a Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones or Sammy Davis Jnr song he always says "holding nothing back"...……..

From what's been written it sounds like Don has a limited record choice and vocabulary.

I agree also about Anthony Newley not a patch on our Matt's.
It's been on the radio today with Sammy Davis Jnr singing it and again not as good as Matt's.

Don started his final show of the present series by mentioning the coronavirus (Lord Bath of Longleat fame) is the latest well known casualty of it :( .........…Don played songs tonight by either singers or writers who are still alive ...........it was an enjoyable final show ...........he played Dusty singing The Look of Love .........…and played Matt singing You and Me Against the World ........he played Johnny Mathis singing This Way Mary but as good as it was, Matts version is much better ...................he ended the show with another Anthony Newley song and also said his memoirs are being published in July and also said he hoped thing's will be looking much better when he returns with his next series :)

Who's memoirs Anthony Newley's or Don Black's?

Yes Robert it was a good show, in fact we thought it was one of the best in the series. Matt's version of This Way Mary is definitely better and the same applies to Didn't We which Don also played. ☺
