Hi all,

I nominated a friend to perform on John Barrowman's Tonights The Night earlier this year. Her performace is finally broadcast tonight 6.00pm BBC one - Helena Lockwood singing with Dusty Springfield!! I will (unfortuanately) be featured too - but hopefully not much!!

I spotted your message on facebook Richard, so sent a group email to 'the MM gang' but I think only Lena saw it in time. Anyway, probably most of us watch the show anyway. It was good to see you, and your friend Helena with Dusty was excellent.
With you near the beginning and Alfie at the end.... what a show!

It was great to be able to do that for Helena. I thought she held her won very well against Dusty which is not an easy thing to do!

Yes, I hadn't looked in on Facebook, but did watch it thanks to Marian, and we thought Helena's performance duet with Dusty was excellent, and we could tell that you thought so too Richard.
A great performance by Alfie and Paul Stevens too. I somehow felt that I had seen this man Paul Stevens before. !!!!

What is this porgramme? This is the first I've heard of it. Whom did Alfie sing with? Did Richard sing with anyone?

It's a light hearted entertainment programme hosted by John Barrowman Paul. He dresses up in disguises and surprises members of the public to make their dreams come true on his variety show. They sometimes get flown to overseas locations to meet stars they admire too. You might recall the programme as last year a man sang a duet with Matt Monro, who was his idol.
In last night's programme Richard's friend Helena wanted to duet with Dusty. she had had a serious throat condition that she had overcome, and this had been something she had dreamed of doing. Richard gave a short interview and was later in the audience at the show. John surprised Helena initially dressed as a geeky London bus tour guide, but she recognised him immediately!

Alfie sang Bring Him Home with the Paul Stevens Lena mentioned, I felt I'd seen him before too Lena, and no, Richard didn't sing.

Richard I thought it looked like you!!!! I did not realise John Barrowman was on and switched the tv on in time to hear the tale about singing with Dusty, I grabbed a dvd and recorded it so will watch it again.

Marian, I've a feeling it could have been Paul Stevens, the charity worker who requsted to sing with Matt on this very programme. .

You could well be right Lena, I couldn't remember his name.

I had a feeling of deja vu when Alfie duetted last night, hasn't he done that before on the same show?

We caught up with this show on iPlayer and really enjoyed watching Helena sing a duet with Dusty. She did herself proud and it was great to see Richard being interviewed and also to see how moved he was by Helena's performance.

We wish her very good luck for the future.

Most of last night's show consisted of repeats, but Richard and Helena hadn't been shown before. i don't remember the Alfie slot either, but I definitely knew Paul Stevens from somewhere.

I mentioned to my sister that I had missed this show, and she just sent me a copy through from her SKY plus--not had chjance to see it yet though !!
