The tv series starring Jack Warner, is being released on dvd next week.

I wonder how it will stand up in regard to more modern tv shows especially the excellent series The Bill.

Dixon used to be a favourite, it would be interesting to see it again.

I used to watch it--but many of those shows from way back, seem really dated now-especially if they are in black & white--it would take something really special for me to get something like that.

It's not whether they are in colour or black & white that dates them Marian - Miracle In The Rain was b/w and so is most of Dusty At The BBC but the clarity and the sound on her shows is stunning,

What dates them sometimes is the era and also the style of acting has changed, I remember watching a dvd of The Sweeney awhile back and I thought it was awful with the flared trousers etc and yet that was the style then.

I can't see on Amazon if Dixon is colour or b/w but I'd still like to see it for old times sake.

I think it mentioned on Amazon they are colour episodes, the first six available colour episodes.

Yes Karl, I know that "Miracle in the rain " was in black & white, and I loved that--but I also said it would need something special for me to watch them now. There has been so many films that I really enjoyed when I was younger, and watch them now, and I am nearly always disappointed.

Duid you ever see "The Bishops wife" with Cary Grant and Loretta Young---a really old black and white film, but such a lovely film--in fact it was one of George's favourites, and we watched it often.

I can't remember seeing that one Marian but I do like Cary Grant and have a few of his dvd's. I bought An Affair To Remember in American years ago, haven't watched it yet - it's still sealed but I do remember seeing that as a child.

I know what you mean though with certain films you wonder why you liked it when you see them again.

Dixon Of Dock Green will probably seem dated now. The acting and the dialogue was so different then, and of course in this day and age poor old PC Dixon would have been put out to grass by now with his dodgy feet.

You would remember it if you saw it Karl-I had never seen it before, it was George who remembered it.

I remember seeing "An affair to remember" at the cinema-quite a weepie as I recall.
