I have just read as well that the actor Simon Ward has sadly died aged 70.

After reading your post John I read about Simon. I never realised he was in Judge John Deed - I have the series on dvd.

I remember him as the young Churchill, among other parts. R.I.P Simon Ward.

Like Marian I remember Simon Ward mainly for his role as Young Winston, and I have just read that his youngest daughter is married to comedian Michael Mcintyre.
He shares the same Birthday as me too.
