Tony Martin R.I.P.

Post by john » Mon Jul 30, 2012 10:04 pm

I have just read that the actor and singer Tony Martin has passed away at the the incredible age of 98. He made a lot of great recordings including "There's No Tomorrow" and "Begin The Beguine" and still performing until very recently.

Haven't heard him for years but I enjoyed the few records I heard, what a wonderful achievement to still be performing at that age,

I always liked his "crooning" vocals & his good taste in women...Namely his beautiful wife - Cyd Charisse
He was born in San Francisco & his birth name was Alvin Morris. Check out his "You Tube" videos....
Much like Al Martino & Don Cornell, his voice was still strong when he performed in concert in his 80s.

Sad to hear that Tony Martin has died, but at a great age.
He was a wonderful singer and performer and partnered his wife Cyd Charisse for many years as a double act.
Tony Martin was the only person to boast Four stars on the Hollywood walk of fame,
He was also Al Martino's favourite male singer.
R.I.P. Tony Martin.

I remember Tony Martin from his "younger" years (not too much younger though!) and he certainly lived to a ripe old age, but I do wonder what somebody's singing voice sounds like at 98!
