Marvin Hamlisch

Post by jon » Tue Aug 07, 2012 3:22 pm

The broadway composer Marvin Hamlisch has died at the age of 68. He won three Oscars, among other awards, and of course composed "The Way We Were", and the musicals "The Sting" and "A Chorus Line". I once passed him, many years ago, walking over Waterloo Bridge in London. RIP, Marvin.

I am saddened to read this, Marvin was also entertaining on chat shows.

R.I.P. Marvin and thank you for the music.

I just checked Marvin out on google and saw some pictures, he had really put on a lot of weight. It said he collapsed and passed away on Monday.

Sad sad news. I loved Bond 77 from The Spy who Loved Me. Shane Rimmer at the EMI night in September kindly signed my copy of CD from the film. R.I.P Marvin Hamlisch.

Oh, I had not seen this news---how sad--he was such a brilliant composer---I have him on dvd playing for and singing with Johnny Mathis-and I know he was a great favourite of Barbra Streisand.

I read Barbra was devastated when she heard the news, she had been trying to call him to ask him something.
