I just read that author James Herbert had died aged 69. His best sellers both made into films, were The Fog and The Rats.
Mr Herbert, who received an OBE in 2010, was the third son of street traders. His family lived at the back of Petticoat Lane in Whitechapel in an area damaged by World War Two bombs.

The rat-infested location inspired The Rats which sees London overrun by mutant, flesh-eating rodents. I preferred The Fog.
R.I.P. James Herbert.

Sad to hear this news. Haven't read this book Marian, but i'd bet many who lived around Petticoat Lane would have some tales to tell on this subject. :D
