I was sorry to read that actor Richard Thorp who plays Alan Turner in Emmerdale has died aged 81. He was always one of my favourite characters in the soap, and was the longest serving member of the cast, being in it for over 31 years.
R.I.P. Richard.

I liked him best too John. My cousin went out with him once.

I remember when he first came in it Marian, when he was the boss of NY Estates, and then later his scenes with Mrs Bates, his secretary, they made a good comedy partnership.

Richard had a part in The Dambusters film, then Emegency Ward 10 and Crossroads before Emmerdale .....................RIP

I know it's a bit late now but I too was sorry to hear of Richard's death I liked him very much, and loved him in Emmerdale a great loss.
