Re: Don Black on Radio 2
We enjoyed this week's show and again he played some nice songs. Hopefully he will play something different by Matt as the week's go by but perhaps not!!
Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Don is maybe finishing the final series with his very favourite Matt songs before he signs off air
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
Re: Don Black on Radio 2
At the beginning of tonight's programme Don said only six shows to go...................on another varied programme he played "matchless Matt" singing the lovely Laura which was written by tonight's mystery singer .............his opening song was Peggy Lee singing the glorious The Folks Who Live On the Hill the song was orchestrated by Frank Sinatra and Don said that song is his most requested ..............did anyone know (I didn't) that Don wrote Lulu's To Sir With Love
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
Re: Don Black on Radio 2
No can't believe only six more shows Robert The lovely Laura that we had requested and had played on our 'big bands and balladeers' Radio Lincolnshire show last week. Re To Sir With Love think we always knew the lyrics were by Don Black such great appropriate words to a film I can always watch again.

Although we thought the show was not as good as previous weeks, we still enjoyed it especially as he played "Matchless Matt" singing the wonderful Laura.

Always knew Don wrote the words to " To Sir With Love" lovely song.
Re: Don Black on Radio 2
An ok show from Don tonight but not one of his best..........he's played a song by Barbara Streisand for the past three weeks now I think........he played another rarish song by "matchless Matt" tonight when he played My Friend My Friend ..........but it was a mixed bag of a show tonight
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Listened to Don's show last night and quite enjoyed it as there were some of our favourite songs included especially Matt singing My Friend, My Friend.
Not many weeks to go and wonder who will replace Don or will the show be something completely different?

I think Robert Don plays Barbara Streisand every week it looks that way.

In the Express today and tomorrow part one and two of the Don Black story
Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Enjoyed tonight's show from Don ..............I was surprised when he told us who the mystery singer was.........the BBC playlist missed out one of the show's best songs played tonight by Peggy Lee............but yet another song by Barbara Streisand to end the programme............the song he played by Matt was the first song Matt recorded with lyrics written by Don April Fool
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

We think so too that this was one of Don's better shows. Some good songs and some good singers. This series seems to have gone quite quickly and unfortunately we wont be able to look forward to him coming back.
