Just caught this on AOL news--how sad. I cant remember a time when I did not listen to David Jacobs one way or another.

But it was painfully clear on his last show that he had become very frail--just from listening to him.

This is such sad news, and after David had hoped to retunn to broadcasting from time to time, but he was obviously suffering a great deal and this just wasn't to be.
David was one of the longest serving DJs, and made a wonderful contribution to the music world and to broadcasting. In fact David featured in so many programmes over the years, we feel that we were brought up with him.
His late Sunday night programme on Radio 2 brought pleasure to millions but particularly to us Matt Monro forum fans who knew that David adored Matt and would play his recordings as regularly as he could.
We won't hear David's recogniseable . ...hello there ! introduction to his programme again.. but we'll remember him as one of TVs and Radio's charming celebrities, the likes of whom we'll never see again.

We did hear the 2011 programme that was repeated, but still nice to hear it again, and some lovely tributes paid to David on the following programme and well deserved too. :)

Yes Robert-sent shivers down my spine when David related the story of Sinatras favourite British singer being Matt. And then the opening lines to ''I'm Glad There Is You'' :D :D

Superb tribute by so many plus great music on David Jacobs- a celebration :D :D
