"DON'T FORGET THE LYRICS"

Post by mariana44 » Sun May 11, 2008 10:45 am

This is a new programme on Satellite, starting tonight [Sunday] at 7.00 with Shane Richie hosting.

Obviously about music---there should be more music quizzes on TV--I cannot think of one that is on at the moment---and very few over the last few years.

So I am looking forward to this one.

I gave it a go Marian, and the first contestant did well didn't she? I'm not sure it's a show I will watch regularly though. Too much chat and not much music.

I quite agree--much too much chat! And it was quite tiresome having the same girl singing for the whole programme---I think it would have been better if there were 2 competing against each other--it just did not seem very exciting !!

We have had this programme in the US since last summer. You're right, it's entirely too slow paced with too much created (fake) drama that Americans love. :( Normally I would be interested in anything music-related, but not this programme. In the US version (and probably the UK as well) the person sings the song, which also bothers me as I don't like karaoke much.

I prefer the British lyrics programme from last year that was a real competition going from 6 contestants to 2 in the final group. That's far more exciting.

Yes Paul-you are right--the girl had to sing the songs--and now you mention it--yes it was just like Karaoke--not much fun to listen to--although she was enjoying her 15 minutes of fame !!! Well, 1 hour of fame , as it was just her and Shane Richie for the whole hour !!

I agree, the one from last year was much better--more fast moving---less chat, more competition, and definately more entertaining.

:?: Was this programme a success or a flop? I assume you all got bored quickly, as it certainly didn't generate the number of posts of the Joseph or Nancy shows.

I think a similar one is still on in the US, but I never watch it. Too slow paced.

Although I originally thought I would love this programme, I do not, and I never watch it now--as I mentioned before, it is just like one big karaoke session. In no way can it be compared to "Joseph" or "I'll do anything".

The new one on ITV--"Who dares sings" is much better----better presenters, better format, competition element
