Saddened to hear of the death of writer Bob Larbey. He co-wrote [with John Esmonde] some of the best & funniest things on tv. Please Sir, The Good Life, A Fine Romance, Ever Decreasing Circles & many others. Wish there were such talented writers around today instead of the badly written rubbish that is broadcast as comedy today.

Yes, you are right Marian. Agree with all that you say. This is sad news. When we look back and remember those past comedy series that we can still watch again and again.
The same thing couldn't be said today with what's being turned out.

I agree they were all good shows. Perter Egan was excellent on Ever Decreasing Circles, he always looked like dhe was struggling to keep a straight face. Never see him on anything now.

Does anyone watfch Rev? It's a hit and miss, the first of the new series was very funny and had me laughing out loud but this weeks show with Hugh Bonneville guesting was not so funny, the only laugh was from him actually.

He wrote some very good comedies, there is just nothing like that on TV anymore which is a great pity.
