Aw that's sad, I thought he was great.

Rest in peace James and thank you for the movies.

I just read he had been married since 1956, it's good to know that some showbusiness marriages work.

I always loved The Rockford Files. When he was a toddler my youngest son would come running whenever he heard the music. :D

I have some good dvd's of James, two particular favourites are Tanki and 36 Hours.

I read about him it seems his illness made him depressed and he felt he had nothing left to live for, how sad!

Bless him ...i totally understand how that can happen to people in life espeacially when old ...depression in the elderly is a lot more common than people realise ....... :(

Is it any wonder that the elderly get depressed, particularly those who are poorly, when they have to read and hear.. how one day (how soon we don't know ) some presumed know all will let us know whether we are going to be allowed to have the choice to die in a dignified manner or not.

Yeah the "right to die" is such an emotive subject .....I won't go there

One of my uncle on my dear Dads side was very depressed and tried to end it all ......I was so shocked ....he had bowel cancer and life just for too much he passed naturally not LOng afterwards...he outlived most of his brothers and sisters and my Mum dear Dad whom he was devastated at losing..... The dartford bridge is often a place somebody will chose and when I worked with youngsters ...they could not understand why anybody would even think about ending it all ....I explained ...that as far as mental pain is concerned many find it too. Much and cannot not rationalise anything ....even the devastation they will leave behind ...I was like them at their ages ....couldnt understand it all ....I wish I was still that age sometimes :( .....

Yes our opinions change as we mature,

I can fully understand how a husband or wife who begs their partner to help them die must feel but it's a very hard decision to expect of anyone. I know it's awful seeing loved one's ill with no hope, I've been there.

RIP James Garner. Loved him in The Rockford Files. That was one of my Friday night shows back in the 70's after watching The Partridge Family.

I have that but still to watch it, Tank was also a good movie. I don't think James Garner made a bad movie, didn't he also make one with Julie Andrews? I think I have that too, not Victor Victoria but a later film.

My Fellow Americans was also great.
