COMMONWEALTH GAMES GLASGOW 2014

Post by Lena & Harry Smith » Sun Jul 27, 2014 10:02 am

We have been enjoying these games, particularly the swimming and cycling. Medals coming in with Australia, England and Scotland heading the medals board so far.
The athletics including the marathon today, but sadly no Mo Farah taking part in the games.

As I've said we are enjoying the sports, but couldn't agree with you more Karl. This is something that they seem to do more so than ever now. We know sometimes they have to fill in time, but too much nattering, and is it necessary to have so many pundits commentating on every event that we have just sat watching. :? :?

We are enjoying the sports too Lena and Harry. It was a surprise to see an Australian man winning the Marathon this morning.
Now we are off to see the Hungarian Grand Prix, and later the cricket!

Yes, that was a surprise Marathon winner Marian. I enjoyed watching the Bowls today. Scotland beat England in a nail biting finish. We are watching the swimming and another gold medal has just gone to England. Whoo hoo !!

The games have been fantastic up to now, and difficult to say what events we've enjoyed the most. Have to admire the commitment and dedication that it must take from all these competitors who take part, whatever the sport.
Glasgow have been great hosts and certainly done Scotland proud, and England have excelled in every sport and event resulting in top of the medals board. Well done England, what brilliant displays we've seen these past few days. The gymnastics in particular.
Shame it has to end on Sunday.

The TV closing ceremony of the games took place last night with Kylie Minogue and Lulu giving their all, and everyone enjoying themselves.
The whole event was mainly based on the take over to the Gold Coast Australia who are to host the next Games.
This event obviously took a lot of planning and organising, but although my thoughts and comments are unimportant, I have to admit it was boring the arse off me, the Games themselves were a triumph, so well done Glasgow. :)
