We saw Acker Bilk once, in a show with Chris Barber at the Hexagon in Reading. They both came out and chatted after the show and signed autographs. Acker's has a big smiley face next to it.
R.I.P. Acker Bilk.

I always remember my mum and I listening to Stranger on the Shore together, when I was young. Beautiful piece of music.

Yes he was known as Mr. Acker Bilk here too but we all called him Acker Bilk.
I love Acker playiing Aria which I hav eon an LP and that was my hotel in Las Vegas, so large it was like a world on it's own!
I saw Ball,Barber & Bilk last year but Acker was in a wheel chair and did not play that well, I felt rather sorry for him as he tried.
Rest in peace Acker and your music will still be enjoyed in years to come.
