DES O'CONNOR

Post by karl » Sun Nov 15, 2020 11:00 am

Des has passed away at the age of 88, just recently I saw a pic on Facebook of him waving to a family member though his window and he looked so well.
Rest in peace.

Yes, very sad news this morning Karl, what a great entertainer he was and I think was a very nice man and very well liked and respected. He will be greatly missed.

My first ever trip to London and I wanted to see a show at the Palladium regardless of who was appearing, it was Des
and the show was fantastic. If I remember correctly Trio Los Paraguayos & the Syd Lawrence Orchestra were on the show
with him and dancers with plumes in their hair came down the aisle onto the stage - it was just brilliant.

Sad news RIP :( ...........Des was self isolating and took a fall at home similar circumstances to Cilla and passed away in hospital.........I think everyone must have liked Des O'Connor as he seemed such a decent person .........I always liked his 1960's hit One Two Three O'Leary :)

Yes RIP to Des O'Connor. His shows were always happy and I think he was an underrated singer.

Is their footage of him and Matt together. Or am I imagining it?

He was underrated as a singer Sandra, I think he made some very nice albums throughout his career, especially from the mid 70's onwards. The very first one I bought was one of his was "Portrait", that came out in 1992, and it is an excellent cd, he is in great voice and includes a very nice version of Portrait Of My Love.
There is a clip on youtube of Matt on his show from 1984,and there is also a dvd out of Des O Connor, called volume 1 and Matt is on one of those shows from around 1970.
