Did anyone catch the first 2 shows of the new series. An extra judge called Kara Degardia [??], who is a prolific song writer apparently.

I actually quite liked her--it was as though she had always been there!

Apart from that , same formula as before. Some good, some Ok, some bizarre--and the odd one or 2 that looked like real contenders.

Apparently, the audience for the first night dropped drastically---down to only 30 million. !!!!

I don't think the new judge is adding much to the show. She's particularly annoying this week --- very contrived in my opinion.

I want the auditions to be over, so we can have the real competition. Apparently, that's when the format changes begin. That's a good idea, because people aren't very interested in the show anymore over here.

:) :D Finally the interesting and exciting part has arrived: the top 36. I don't think I've ever seen so many amazing male singers together. :!: 8) I'm not impressed with the girls. But the boys are incredible. My favourites are Danny, Stephen, and so many others I can't recall the names. Be sure to watch it this weekend. Does it still air at the weekend in the UK?

I had picked out Stephen as one of my favourites-he sang a Stevie Wonder song at the auditions. Was Danny the blind guy ? He was much better , when he was allowed to use his piano. I also liked Michael--one of the last to get through--the guy who worked on an oil rig-or something similar.

The girls at the moment have all seemed to blend into one--all very samey at present--apart from Tatiana--who has a decent voice--but is driving me MAD with her laughing and her screaming.

But I am definately hooked again ! I like the new format--gives a wider choice for the audience to vote from.

I have remembered Danny--he is the guy who lost his wife, as I recollect.

And much as I liked the "new" format, I did not agree with the final round where they made 2 friends sing against each other for just one plce-I thought it was unneccessary and cruel.

 :( Very disappointing performances last night. I was so upset for my fellow Ohioan Stephen Fowler. He sang poorly and was off pitch. And why did he choose Rock With You by Michael Jackson? He should have sung Stevie Wonder. The best by a mile was Danny Gokey. He is really talented. :) The girls were particularly awful.

We will see that one tomorrow night.I agree thst Stephen Fowler did wel with Stevie Wonder previously-I cannot say that I have ever heard anyone else singing "Rock With you", which just happens to be one of my favourite Michael Jackson songs, from his album "Off the Wall" which I love !!!

I forgot to mention Tatiana Nicole del Toro. She was quite subdued and sang pretty well. I think she could get a job as a TV presenter. I can't see her as a recording artist.

On another note, Melinda Doolittle (from season 6) was at a nearby Borders Bookstore last night. But I didn't know about it in time. :( She was on the morning news TV programme today and I recorded it. She's promoting her new album. I didn't recognise the song titles, so I assume they are new songs and not covers.

I cannot say I am yet impressed with any of the singers who have got through--or those who did not get through.

But I was so pleased to see Brooke White last night, performing her own song-she was always my favourite from last year, and I believe if she had been in it this year, she could have won !

Just checked out Brooke's cd on Amazon--it is a staggering £27.40.

The 2 David's from last year have albums out at £8.00/£9.00.

Not sure why they have priced Brooke's so high--I cannot see many going at that price

Brooke's album would be an import. That's why it's so expensive, whereas the Davids' albums are being distributed in the UK.

I wasn't too impressed with Brooke White's performance, but a friend liked it.

I think all the guys that have made the top 12 this year are excellent singers. The two girls that have gone through are pretty good.

I loved the results show tonight--real atmosphere-especially with Stevie Wonder--he sang my fave Stevie song "Overjoyed"---I heard Johnny Mathis sing this once--just once--at a concert-and it was just spellbinding.

I had guessed that Michael would be the one to go tonight.
